Plantation course weeks after Mercedes

Below are pictures from a recent round at the Kapalua Plantation Course. Played there on 1/21, weeks after the Mercedes. Great golf course...highlights include -

-Played the white tees. Would have preferred to play the blues, but all others in our foursome wanted to play the whites. Blue tees are not the same as the tournament tees, although some were the same. It would have been a VERY different course from the blue tees.
-Weather was what you expect in Kapalua...sunny on one hole, pouring rain on another. The wind was very strong all day. We fortunately had more sun than rain. Course was very wet, so not much roll.
-We were paired with a member and his guest...HUGE help! He was great to play with - helped us read the greens, in particular the grain. Also helped with aiming points on blind shots. He shared stories about the course, tournament, players, etc. He also said the phrase "everything is lateral...no out of bounds" several times.
-Amazing views throughout the course. We even saw several whales playing in the ocean from the course.
-Loved the back nine...some great holes with spectacular views.
-When you come off #11 green, be sure to hit a tee shot from the tournament tee block on #12. Really puts in in perspective the difference in yardage.
-#17 was a brutal par 4, even from the whites. #18 was just as much fun as it looks on TV. Practice those downhill lie long irons and fairway woods. Great finishing holes.
-Staff was friendly, but nothing out of the way. Pro shop is stocked with great merchandise.
-Was scheduled to play the Bay Course on the following day, but opted for a day at the beach with my wife and daughter. For the money, I think I would pay and do the replay at the Plantation before paying for the Bay Course. Walked a few holes of the Bay Course and it looks great, but not sure it is worth the cost.
