Some of you have no doubt seen this "lecture".......but, I hadn't ........one of my best friends who is a club pro in S Texas just sent it to me.......it's EXACTLY how I feel about golf/teaching/life.......I only wish I was half the man this fellow is........but I do try and live my life like he has........and, the reason I'm posting this on a golf swing forum is in hopes that some kid out there who watches it and wants to be a great player will watch it.......the advice he gives is simply fantastic.......

I love this man's lecture... I have actually watched the full 90 min lecture and it just blew me away. Remarkable man. Great lessons and advice on life.

Great lessons for life that will fall on many deaf ears...amazing how simple his advice is yet how hard it is to live. I've had similar conversations with many friends and how found so many individuals (including myself) who will nod in agreement, but struggle with living the truths that are truly important in life.

Yep, all we can do is try to live em'........we're all highly foulable human beings........I just cannot imagine the inner courage, faith, and character this man has to be able to stand up and present this message under his circumstances........I'm about his age with 2 young kid's........man, what he must be going through......I've watched 3 people who I cared for very much go through the exact same scenario and it's brutal......I only hope that when my number is called that I can exhibit a small amount of the courage of this man.......such a fine message from such a tragic circumstance.......gotta' live em' one at a time as tomorrow darn sure isn't guaranteed........

Well, that just took up my evening.....I watched the 10 minute clip on Oprah and was wowed......then I went and watched the whole darned 76 minute thing on youtube. Absolutely worth my time to watch that....maybe yearly as a reminder to myself.

 

Gonna try to remember to "Tigger up" on days when I feel a bit more Eeyore-ish.

No offense but most motivational speakers don't really do it for me. I dunno. To me they sound too damn pushy. :D;) That's not to say there aren't a lot of good things to take out of his speech.

 

Can't not give "props" to this guy though. He is obviously doing incredibly well for the situation he's in. He's trying to turn it into a positive that's for sure. Trying to help people. I'm sure there are people who he has really gotten through to.

This guy is a prof at CMU computer science. Being a CS + economics major I've been continually impressed at the quality, brilliance, and the desire to help of CS profs.

 

My dearest friend from highschool days is doing a phd in CS at stanford right now... This guy reminds me of him. These guys apply their strong logic to overcome emotional obstacles and really take their life into their hands... What can I say, I'm a computer scientist wannabe.
