Odyssey Versa alignment benefits

Can anyone speak to whether the Versa high contrast design has noticeably helped your alignment, or not? I haven’t tried myself, and It might sound gimmicky but I actually think the high-contrast would help. Lmk what you guys think, I know versa has been around for a while

I also wonder if the Tri-Hot5k color contrast provides a similar benefit. Definitely isn’t as pronounced as the Versa, but there’s still contrast

I was able to talk to the guys from Odyssey about this a few weeks ago and I was told that they did find that some people are more accurate with their alignment when setting it perpendicular to the line vs trying to aim down the line (if that makes sense.) They actually had a laser line and used a ruler to show how obvious it is when the face wasn't 90* to the start line. So if you use a line on the ball, setting the face perpendicular to it instead of using a line that extends down the putter, and the Versa paint scheme helps with that.

I'm sure it's not true for everyone, they also said the only reason for the red shafts is because they pop on TV...so it could just be an easily recognizable design that pops on camera. The way they explained it, surely much better than I am, made sense to me.

I have the old 1w a la Willet and Furyk.  I have always preferred putters with no line on the flange.

For some reason I can square the face better with the versa alignment. Its very easy to see if I'm perpendicular to my line with little to no effort/time/stress. It just pops out.

I think it just comes down to how you see the line and prefer to line up your puts.  Flange lines always cause me to question if it's pointing in the right direction, then I subconsciously try to keep it in a certain position rather then making a smooth flowing putting stroke.

Trying to decide if I should pay $400 for the Tri-Hot 7 S when the Versa 7 S is only $260… Same shaft, face insert, head shape and weight. Thought I made up my mind on the Tri-Hot but it’s kind of hard to justify paying $140 more for a putter because of the different color combo. Am I missing something here?

I’m not saying the Tri-Hot is necessarily worth spending $140 more on, but it’s more expensive for many reasons - specifically the materials and tungsten weighting, which are strategically positioned to achieve a very high MOI, you can look up the design and you’ll see why (steel front end with tungsten built into the perimeter of face - hence why the insert is noticeably shorter from heel to toe on the TriHots - and a aluminum back end with interchangeable tungsten weights)

And while it’s not nearly as high-contrast, i’d think that the Tri-Hots have a similar benefit to the Versa’s alignment methodology with it’s black/grey color contrast

Thank you for all the info! I spent about 20 minutes with each one in my hand and ended up going with the Tri-Hot. Both felt good but the Tri-Hot did feel better!

Versa flat out works if you're the type that aligns putts better horizontally.   You have to try it out to see.  Game changer for me.

I keep going back to the 2012 model 1 wide.  Furyk shot 58 and Willett won the Masters with it.  And both have it back in the bag.  Also John Huh?

Stealth, TSR2, AP2's, and a JB Versa

Tri hot 7 is a larger footprint than the Versa 7 as well.

Saw you went with Tri Hot. Yeah I notice a big difference in feel too between Tri/Versa
