Tri Hot 5k putter weighting help

Recommended Posts

Picked up a tri hot 5k 7 recently. Before that I was using an OMOI 3 for quite a while.

I’ll try to do my best explaining my question. The head weight in the 5k is 365 and has 25g weights in it. My issue/desire is to make the putter feel heavier. The OMOI had a headweight of 383 albeit with a steel shaft.

Ideally, if someone could say you need to add X weight to the head/remove X weight from the weight under the grip and it will/should feel closer to the omoi weight that would be awesome. I don’t mind using lead tape if I have to.

The stroke lab shaft is what’s throwing me.

Buy heavier head-weights, Odyssey/Callaway sells a Trihot5k weight kit on their website

And I’m pretty sure the stock weights in the TriHots are two 10gram weights, not 25g. If you install the heaviest weights (2 x 20grams), it should put you at 385grams

The Trihot5k grip is 77grams, plus a 30gram counterweight in the butt end of the shaft. Installing a lighter grip and/or replacing the 30g counterweight with a lighter one (some people remove it altogether), will also increase the swing weight

And if u don’t like the SL shaft, you can send it in to Odyssey to get swapped out for one of their steel shafts (for a fee I presume)

Edit: I see that it does say 25gram weighs on their website, but they constantly post the incorrect info/specs that I wouldn’t trust that. 2 x 25grams weights doesn’t make sense. I had the same exact thing happen with my Toulon a few months ago, their site listed the incorrect stock weights and i bought the wrong weight kit because of it

Stock weights are 25gm I am pretty certain.
the weight kits only offer 20 and lower.

so doesn’t look like you can get weights to take the weight of head up.
remove grip and remove the counter weight and regrip.
then add lead tape from there. That’s your best option.
I have a rossie s that I put a steel shaft in and definitely helped with the head “feeling” heavier.
Though that putter is now on the bst.

I see the website does say 25gram weights but their website is so often incorrect, I don’t trust that at all. I went through this same exact ordeal with my new Toulon, website said two 15gram weights but it’s actually 10gram weights stock

The stock TriHots weights have to be 10-15grams. Pretty much no one is gonna be buying weights to decrease their head-weight. It should weigh 355grams with the lightest possible weights if it follows the same weighting scheme as all recent Odyssey releases. The stock 365gram head is actually quite light considering the counterweighting/stroke-lab

I figured the same thing. The math didn’t add up. I have a 10gm weight kit for the tri hot, and the stock weights are significantly heavier and larger, The 10gm ones are angled in. None of it really makes sense. If it’s 365 with 25s, with the 10s in it would make it 335. Yet it feels nowhere near that light with the 10gm weights in.
something is off for sure with what they are stating on the site. But I do believe the weights stock are 25gm, I just think the head weight with the 25gm stock weights has to be closer to 380.
I may have a scale I can weigh the stock weight to confirm tomorrow.

I can assure you the stock head-weight is indeed 365grams. 360-365 (blade-mallet) is the stock head weight for every stroke lab putter. They might’ve confused the Trihot’s front heel-toe weights (installed internally in the black/steel section) with the interchangeable weights

If they are actually 25g each, that’s new to the mallets that were recently introduced to the lineup; and they have to add additional weight-kit options. But whoever is responsible for maintaining their website, or relaying the information, sucks lol. And if you call customer service they just repeat the same incorrect information. When I was in this dilemma with the Toulon weights, I eventually just DM’d Sean and Joe Toulon on instagram and they, to my surprise, quickly replied with the correct information

Yeah man, they are indeed 25gm weights. So you’re probably right, more designed for the blades with the weight kits.

the weight kits only go from 5-20 gym. So only option is to make them lighter. Very odd.

Very interesting. So yeah they just need to add more weight-kit options for the mallets then. I suggest calling Callaway and explaining the issue. I had to call and complain about the weight kit offerings for the Toulon’s, because they originally only offered a single weight-kit with every weight, for like $150, versus individual weights. So I called and asked if they could sell individual weights (like the TriHots) and they actually fixed it. The people over at Callaway just need some guidance every once in awhile lmao
