USA Turf Pros Matzilla Wood Tee Mat

Ordered this 5' x 5' direct from the OEM on eBay for $150. It’s normally $180 on their website

it’s very very thick and on paper has the same specs as Ez Tee Hybrid +. The main difference that I can gather reading the specs is the that the Matzilla is 100% Nylon. The EZ Tee is a blend of PP and Nylon.

Will update again after use, but my only concern would be it’s too fluffy and it could grab the club?

Looks like it's pretty decent material. That pile height is crazy long. Would be curious to see how much a ball placed on it sits down into the fibers. Would think it'll be fine. And more likely to mimic fat shots than other mats can.

My only concern (and I know we've talked about this in another thread) would be placing that directly on concrete. But I think you're already planning to have a softer base to put it over.

I have a mat from them I’ve had a couple of years now. I really haven’t had a problem with it grabbing the club unless I really hit one fat. It’s held up well and it’s easy on the joints.

Did you put a backing behind it? What do you hit off, concrete or grass underneath?

Hit about 200 balls on it over 3 sessions so far. The first day I put yoga mats underneath, as recommended by the YouTube video, and the 2nd and 3rd times I did not nothing.

Seems like the mat is settling with use and feels better every session. Not sure if I want the mat underneath on it at all.

Probably sounds stupid, but the better I swing, the better it feels?

Also, the curiosity of a more premium mat I cannot see in a store got to me. I ordered a Monster Mat too. Will be fascinated to see them side by side.

I would be shocked if there is a better option than Matzilla under $150

Mine came with a backing. It’s looks a little different thatn the one you have. I don’t use it outside. I have a litter practice area set up in my basement and it sits on carpet.

Bought a strip of EZ Tee Hybrid. Even though the specs are similar, way different construction.

The density of the turf and the shape of the fibers is what changes mat to mat and creates the differences in feel and price.

If you really have a firm 150-$200 budget, this a solid choice. I think that high end mat companies price gauge, but I can say there are better options if you have more budget.

@Walkerdb7 are you still enjoying the mat? I got the 5x10 and am very concerned about the spongy feeling under the feet. There is a ton of movement. I contacted the seller and they said it will settle in with use. Any truth to that?

This was my first attempt at a mat. It's an outstanding deal, but after getting hooked on hitting balls in the "comfort" of my own garage, I decided to invest more. I returned this during their window and got the Tartan Turf Champion mat. It's the 5' x 5' version of the Bulls eye hitting strip people rave about. Significantly cheaper through Tartan compared to Bullseye.
