Skeptical of Arccos -- but interested also

Recommended Posts

So someone that has experience with the Arccos system -- I am curious about it and the info it provides, but also skeptical of my ability to want to fumble with a piece of technology when I play.. Is there anyone out there like me who has used it and it was more user friendly than anticipated, or have you used it 3 rounds and found it annoying to mess with your phone/watch to set pins and correct tech missteps during your round?? Super interested, just know my personality and I get frustrated with tech somewhat quickly

I’m generally one to enjoy technology, but I really like it.  I use it with the Apple Watch.   I generally don’t mess with any of the scoring tools or worry about it during the round.  The watch does make marking pins is pretty easy now.  So if I think about it, I will do that.   After the round I’ll give the round a quick review to see if anything was missed, adjust putts, things like that.  If you are going to go in there to check stats, spending a few minutes making a few shot adjustments doesn’t feel like a big deal.

I have days where the app performs terribly and it takes way too much effort on course to keep it accurate. For the other 75% of the rounds is minimal on-course effort beyond marking pins and stepping off my putts for distance. Post round is where I go back through and make any changes that it may have missed like fairway vs rough lies. Overall I love it for the post round stats and I can use it to submit my hole by hole scores to USGA for my handicap.

Does Arccos’s calculated cap match your official one?

i tried it and hated it......didn't like the caps that went on the end of my club, felt like there was too much wiggle in them.

But i do love data

So now i use MyTaylorMade+ and it's so easy, i use the app right on my apple watch and just prior to each shot i enter in what club i'm using, and after the round i get tons of great information

I have a very low tolerance for technology and it works pretty well for me.

i keep my phone in my pocket which I don’t love but it does a good job of picking up shots. Going to get a Apple Watch to put on a belt clip I think.

The data is nice and I like the preview caddy and the smart distance feature for clubs.

You dont have to mess with it during the round. I just occasionally check it to make sure the app is still running.
The other day it picked up the wrong course but i didnt notice until 2-3 holes

into it.  (Multiple courses at same location). It was most likley user error!!
But once i selected proper course it picked right up. I just had to manually enter the holes i missed after the round.
Pin location obviously has to be adjusted on each hole but u could go through each round in a few minutes.
I enjoy reviewing rounds while i edit/adjust it.
The sensors dont bkther me at all.

I’ve been Arccos for about a month. I use the Caddy Link. Very little on-course issues. I don’t bother stepping off the putts. The tech is pretty easy to use. However, I am not sure I like the screw-in cap sensors but I tend to grip club towards the end.

How stable are the caps, are they likely to come out

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
