Online Golf Instructor/Lessons and/or Practice Plans

Long story short I'll be moving into a home and plan on setting up a net and just grinding out my swing to get better, especially with my irons. I know obviously getting lessons is a way of getting better but as I want to improve in my home I know there are other options such as an online instructor/lessons or practice plans. I was wondering what is recommended for getting better at home. I am open to anything but was wondering if anyone has taken a bit of a self-guided route with an aid of either a practice plan or online instructor and has actually seen results. Appreciate all the replies/insight

I coach a good number of folks who do that, and whether you use me or any of the other 50 or so people out there who are good and do online lessons… I recommend that over trying anything self-guided.

 

The "best" self-guided programs are generally:

• semi-rigid, because they can't account for matchups and various "unique" things in your golf swing that could work together. So, if you swing like Collin Morikawa and have a weak grip but palmar flex it a bunch, that can work, but the online stuff generally won't account for that.
• start with the basics, because they don't know what you're starting point is, so you can spend a lot of time going over stuff you already do really well.

Plus, the third reason and the best reason to work with someone else is… that this is their career. They've spent hundreds or thousands of hours (sometimes it feels like that per month) thinking about the golf swing. You are good at your job, so leave the job of instruction to people who have actually done it. It's similar (though often with less dire consequences) to why people recommend you don't act as your own lawyer.
