Alternatives for ball striking drills

Hi everyone,

 

For years, I've heard the advice to spray the club face with some Dr Scholls' foot spray when practicing ball striking. It gives a nice white covering on the clubface so you can easily see where exactly you strike the ball. But they don't sell it where I live. I've tried several other brands, but they're all clear and I can't see the impression. What are good, non-abrasive alternatives that'll work?

I've done something simpler: a couple of strips of ordinary masking tape laid across the club face. Just don't overlap the edges if possible. Leaves a perfectly visible impression of where the club face connected with the ball. Poor man's impact tape, you could call it.

I don't use anything on the club face, I can usually tell where I've been striking the ball when the club face is clean.

 

I received a tip to place a golf tee behind the ball at the range/home. About a club width away (1/2" or so). If I hit the tee then I know I'm behind the ball, if I hit thin then I'm in front of the ball. It's a cheap drill to start hitting down on the ball. Cheers

There's this stuff called "Strike Spray" that I've seen at golf shops. I haven't bought it as of yet. Though, I would expect it should work for the intended purpose.

I've done this in the past as well. You can also use painters tape.

Just an update, I used Odor Eaters today. It's just like the Dr. Scholls stuff, it may be a little thicker, but it works.
