Just for grins....a wee story

My Dad gifted me his set of Spalding Kro-Flite Robert T Jones Jr golf clubs, bag & cart. They had been gifted to him by an older Brother sometime in the late '40s. They are pyratone shafted with that so-called hickory sheath coloring. Fast forward some 31 years or so....my oldest Son was trying the clubs out in the back yard & somehow stepped on the putter & broke the shaft in two. I tried to fix it various ways without any success. Fast forward a wee bit more than a decade, post an MVA incident (put me in hospital for 5 months & PT/OT for over a decade) & I use a cane, more for balance these days, if needed. However, I managed to remove the putter head off the broken shaft, & affix it to an Irish blackthorn cane I had. The copper wiring around that joining happened cuz it kinda made a small split in the blackthorn. It's about 37" long & somewhere in Golfsmith I found a very long grip. I still make sure I carry it everytime I pick up a bag.
Back in '93 I was playing w/my Nephew, who to this day remembers that cane that I putted with on our round.

It reminds me that something "broken" is still fixable & usefull.....🤣

Great story. Do you count it as a one of the 14 clubs since it doubles as a cane 😂.

🤣 well, The only time that 14 club rule comes into play, is at a sanctioned event...and I've no intention of ever playing in any such thing. I'm pretty sure that every single club I own is considered non-sanctioned by both the USGA and R&A. So, at the time of the story....my cane was the 15th club, when I used it as a putter, noone cared.
I don't keep score, I don't compete (except against the course)...I love the Game & don't give a flaming flip about the 'business' of golf (the marketing of clubs & balls).
