Epon EF-02I - anyone?

Hi everybody - did a search and didn’t find joy…

Has anyone had a chance to game the EF – 02i from Epon? What are the top comps?

Had a blind fitting today and he put me into the EF-02 and AF-705s. Both were incredible to hit with Steelfiber 95 FC4 shafts, and generally outperformed my MP 225s w PX IO 5.5. I’m a 15hcp and while I THINK I tend to get along pretty well with the 225s, the fitter and Trackman both show big benefits with the Epons. Currently go 7-P with my irons into a Cleveland SmartSole4 GW and SW. Considering 6-A in the Epons with the 43* PW.

He believes I’ll gain 2-3 strokes a round taking a step back from the 225s, which is good with me.

Any insights from WRXers? I really don’t want to buy new clubs off the rack - happy to buy used all day long - but I don’t think I’m finding this combo on 2ndswing anytime soon. My fitter preferred the EF-02i for me over the AF since I do have a high swing speed and it was launching very high.

Hey Buddy,

I had played it before, paired with Fujiokura diamond 8s shaft, very nice iron for sure, no doubt. easy to play, strong loft. good spin. It feels great considering a non-1 piece forged head. I always like a one-piece forged head that's why I sold it. This Epon model gained a lot of reputation in Asia. It's very different from all the Epon clubs.

The 7 series is more for players who are looking for more distance. AF 707 is out by the way. Personally don't like it, a bit clunky. EF02I has a black iron head and looks a bit stealth from address which is really nice, The feel of the AF 707 is not as good as EF 02I.

Both are very easy irons indeed but I highly recommend the EF 02I. Hope this helps.

Mine just arrived from the builder. Stunning. Will try later. Got with Iomic grips but don’t love the feel. I’m a dritac guy but wanted to try these.

Got the 505 and 706 sets off of eBay as well because I’m a pig and they were dirt cheap.

Ill share more when I have data. So far the AF series feel ok and the 505>706 feel for me after the first two sessions.

Three shots with the EF-02i. Love love love. Need to sort out a slight issue around the ferrules with the builder, but just stunning and fit me very well with Steelfiber i95 Private Reserve F4. +1/4” and -1deg flat.

Couple photos and then I laid out the 505, 706 and EF-02i 7 irons.

I’m in bliss - three sets of Epons in a week. I’ll be adding the 02 to my 7 iron compare session this weekend.
