JPX923 HMP vs MP245

Greetings!

 

I've had my HMPs for a year and a half and still having trouble getting used to the size of the club and feel.  My old clubs were the OG 2008 Titleist AP2s, and I believe the change to much larger (and cast) iron has been too much of a change at once. I made the switch as I was having knee and shoulder issues which significantly slowed my swing speed and hurt my ability to find the sweet spot.  Over the past six months I'v worked out some of those joint issues and feel my game will improve this golf season (which starts in another month).  I'm considering yet another change to the MP245 (or another brand) given the smaller head, partial forging, slightly higher lofts, and wondering if anyone has played both and had an opinion on the forgiveness, playability and feel for each?  I've seen the GolfNut comparison (he has great videos), but I'm looking for average golfer comparisons.

 

I probably should look at the 923 forged as well...

If you’re a decent striker, you can game 225s or 245s. 
I’ve played 921HMP, 923HMP, and 225. 
I’ve tested 245. 
 

225 and 245 are VERY similar. You will sacrifice a little forgiveness/speed compared to HMP, but if you prioritize looks/feel and are a decent striker, I highly recommend 225 or 245

I’ve had 923HMP, 923F, and most recently received my MP245. 
 

I didn’t love the 923HMP (only had them for 2 months before I switched the 923F). 
 

Loved my 923F, and slowly falling for the MP245 in the same way. Both are great irons. 
 

Irons are my strong suit in my game.

Always favored my 225s over the 923 HMPs. The 923s never suited me well and stayed indoors for the sim. 225s were in the bag for two seasons, and are currently being evaluated against Epon EF-02i to see if I can find some more forgiveness, though I don’t feel the 225s are problematic.

I would look at the 923F as well. Been gaming mine for a month and they are awesome.

 

They give a decent amount more forgiveness compared to the 245 but… the 245 has the 923F in the looks department by a mile. Found myself a little intimidated by the thin 245 top line but not too much.
