Per Todd Lewis, Joe Mayo and Viktor are no longer working together. Viktor did not want to get into details and it appears it was due to personal issues. Condolences to Joe that buddy knows ball.

Pretty sure he means their partnership is dead, not Hovland's career.

I don't think this was ever a long term relationship. Joe in interviews has said he has known Viktor since college and told Viktor he didn't think he should ever have a full swing coach because his swing should not be changed (I tend to believe about 70% of Joe's comments and attribute the rest to wanting to be contradictory to main stream teaching). How long can you teach a guy chipping technique after you have changed it and established the technique based on numbers?

Exactly. Once you have the drills and everything on video, why retain a full time short game coach? Refresher sessions may be needed down the road but that's about it.

Interesting. But I think they probably both got what they needed out of that relationship. You don't have to be someone's student or coach forever.
