Qi10 Tour franken-fairway (5 wood at 3 wood length)

I struggle with hitting 3 wood with enough loft when hitting off the ground.  I've going that most 3 woods have larger heads and almost built with driver replacement in mind.  I once was fit by a TaylorMade rep that put a 5 wood on a 3 wood shaft, turned the loft down... Bam, instant loft.  I wanted to recreate that club.  

 

I decided to recreate that club with the new Qi10 Tour 5 wood.  When you put a standard 3 wood shaft in, the swing weight will jump to about d8 because of the length. I decided to use a counter balanced shaft to get it back to D4.  I used a tensei ck orange pro 75 gram stiff.  Then, I turned the loft down 2 clicks on the hosel, which makes it 16.5 degrees.  I pushed the weight a little forward to really fine tune the spin and trajectory I wanted.  

 

What I now have is basically a high launch 3 wood that is extremely accurate, doesn't like to turn left more than a few yards, slightly smaller head, and can be hit from almost any surface easily.  

 

I highly recommend this setup if you struggle with hitting fairway woods with enough height.

I literally got fit for this exact set up two days ago. I hit my 3W fine but don't need the distance at courses here and put a 2i in earlier this year for tighter holes, so I needed something to land more softly for longer par 5s. Hit the Tour down a click with a 3 wood length shaft and it was the most automatic fairway wood I've ever hit. I love the size of the head and especially the crown at address.

I tried this once. I play a fade and struggle to turn it over most of the time so when I turned the loft down I really struggled to not lose it right. I ended up buying a tsi2 4 wood and putting it in the most upright setting and that has worked well for me.

Same, total opposite. I took the 3 wood head and stuck it on a 5 wood shaft. Gave up a few yards, but it still hits the right number and more importantly is much more consistent.
