Misuno Exsar shaft

I have Mizuno MP-001 woods (driver, e and 5 woods). The driver and 3 wood have Aldila NV 65 shafts and the 5 wood has Mizuno's Exsar shaft. After hitting the clubs, I like the Mizuno Exsar shaft better than the Aldila Nv 65s.

I am thinking about reshafting the driver and 3 wood and would like something like the Exsar shaft.

What aftermarket shaft would have simiilar playing characteristics to the Mizuno Exsar?

Have to agree with you. I just picked up a MP.001 four wood with the stiff Exsar shaft and like it better than the NV in my driver/3 wood. My solution, I'm replacing the driver with a Mizuno MX-500.

 

Well it would seem obvious that you contact Mizuno customer support for specs. I have no personal experience with them to know how responsive they are.

 

Did a quick check on their website (http://www.mizunousa.com/golf?openform) for specs on the current version Exsar shafts:

Not sure how much the specs might have changed from the MP.001. Could always compare the above to shaft specs from other manufacturers.

According to the golfworks oem shaft replacement chart the Graphite design YS6 is the closest aftermarket replacement for the stock MP001 shaft. The exsar shaft in the MX500 is similar to the grafalloy prolaunch.

Great info xjustice, am also looking for info on the exsar shaft. Tried a MX560 and felt it was a lot easier to swing than my current driver shaft. Do you know if the shaft in the MX560 is the same as that in the MX500?

Be sure to post back when you've reshafted the MP-001. I was considering reshafting my stock 9* MP-001 Exsar 60 Stiff with a ProLaunch blue but ultimately decided on a new Ping Rapture instead. I didn't want to risk using a more modern shaft in the MP-001. I didn't know about the head weight vs. shaft stuff and didn't get any feedback on this list when I looked for some info.

 

I currently launch around 8-9* with about 880 RPM backspin with my current setup. Total distance on my drives would be around the 280 mark but that's mostly with a great deal of roll.

slightly off topic but mizuno originally did an exsar gold shaft back in mid to late 90's. Came in 10 different versions and all the assistants i worked with bought a steel shafted Callaway and a exsar shafted mizuno driver and swapped the shafts. gave a brillant flight as is up there with the kartsen 201 as a real quality oem shaft
