Taylormade TP Hybrid .355 tapered?

choices to replace REAX stock shaft

I like the look and set up of the clubhead but hate the shaft... TM 17 Rescue TP

I went to put a Diamana, GD or anything else in it and TM tells me it is a .355 tapered fitting....

There just don't seem to be a whole lot of quality shafts in .355 tapered... (non-steel)

I have seen the exact club with Diamana whiteboard in it, what tip dia. would they be using? Is there a .355 tapered Diamana?

Any ideas?

i had the same issue with my j33 hybrid and the only shaft i found with the .355 taper was an aldilla vs proto hybrid, i put a thread up here and a clubmaker told me that any thick walled .370 could be sanded down to fit so i had my clubmaker sand down and put in a .370 pl red and it's been fine, i haven't found it to be the low launching shaft i thought it would be but it's played consistently.

thanks for the confirmation, that is the same shaft TM steered me to...

 

I might have to start looking for a different hybrid... I am not to keen on having to weaken a shaft to make it fit, I have already had 3 clubheads come completely off in the last 4 months. I generate a lot of clubhead speed and this would make me nervous...

all taper tip graphite shafts begin their lives as a 0.370 parallel tip. They are sanded down to size in the factory. So you see, that sanding a thick walled graphite down to .355 taper tip won't be an issue. But anyway, there are some shafts that might fit your bill:

 

1. NV Hybrid

2. VS Hybrid

3. DVS Hybrid

4. Epic Hybrid

I would strongly suggest the Matrix Ozik XCON Altus hybrid shaft. I put 2 x-flex into a couple of TaylorMade Rescue TP hybrids and they've been superb and very durable for my high swingspeed. My clubmaker said that it was just a case of prepping the tip as per usual and they went straight in even though the hosels are .355 and the shafts .370.

If you are going to sand down a .370 to ".355", its not going to be exactly .355... Couldn't you just use a .350 driver shaft?

No...bad idea...it's only the last fraction of a 0.355 that tapers. At the top of the hosel, it's 0.370. So the 0.350 will be to thin and will work itself out of the hosel.

I have found the DG SL works well in hybrids and is a cheap one to try. Just make sure you use prosoft inserts and they feel like butter!

I went with the Aldila DVS Hybrid 90x hybrids are playing more like irons happy with the flight and control.
