Driver Shaft Recomendation - What shaft do you fit to these numbers?

Trackman Stats: 99.3, 147.7, 2926
I finally found a place in my area that invested in Trackman. They got it a week ago. I understand it costs just under $30k. It is really, really cool.

The place I went used the Callaway fitting system with the screw in shafts, so it was not completely agnostic. They had other stuff, but I guess this is the easiest way to test shafts. Coming away I still have no idea if a TM, Ping or the new Mizuno head would be right for me. I used the Callaway Hyper X Head at 9.5 degrees.

My current driver is a 905r NV, stiff, 9.5, 65, 44.25 inches.

TRACKMAN SAYS:

Club Speed: 99.3 mph
Ball Speed: 147.7
Spin Rate: 2926
Smash: 1.49
Carry: 250
Length: 276.4
Landing Angle: 31.6 degrees

Smooth, non aggressive tempo. I hit it pretty straight, misses are wide right. These stats were taken hitting with ProV1x Practice balls.

I went in hoping to walk out with a Diamana. That wasn't even a shaft they pulled to test after examining my downswing acceleration, and I tested 8 shafts.

So given these stats, what shaft would you put me in?

After I hopefully get a few replies, I'll post what was recommended by the fitter, the stat sheets, and the trackman graphs.

Thank you very much for your help, I felt the $100 I spent today plus the 1 hour drive were well worth what I took away. They do ball fittings and iron gapping fittings as well, and I am definitely interested in going back. Please let me know if you need any additonal information.

Those numbers are actually pretty steller considering the SS/BS. I didn't see you luanch angle listed, but the landing angle under 40 is a good thing for roll. I'd say you have a combo that works already.

Woods : Callaway Razr TA, Titleist F3-05

I thought the same thing, but that's the setup they put him into for fitting.

I'm still waiting to hear what kind of shaft the Hyper X had in it. It'd be much easier to go from there. Still, I'd buy the identical setup that you were fitted in. As it was mentioned, those are optimal stats.

That is huge distance for that swing speed. I got tested on a trackman 2-3 weeks ago and had a SS of 101 on average. Distance average was 243 (smash 1.47). Best hit went 267 - which is less than your average. I wouldn't change a thing! Very interested to find out what shaft you were fitted with that produced those numbers.

Thank you very much for the input. The comment about the landing angle is exactly what the fitter attributed to the increased distance.

I was fitted for the Fujikura Speeder 652 in stiff flex. The test head was the Callaway Hyper X Tour 9.5.

I want to be transparently clear. I am not certain these numbers are averages, think they are. I hit 4 prov1x balls with the final 3 options, my current setup, the Hyper X 9.5 with the Fuji 652, and the Callaway FT5 in 10.5 with the Fuji 652.

There was some downwind breeze which could be a factor in the surprising results giving the stats. I will ask the fitter if Trackman took that into account when calculating ( I assume it did not, as I didn't see a wind meter anywhere around).

Thanks again,

I plugged your numbers into OptimalFlight.

With no wind and sea level, your ballspeed/launch/spin numbers give me 244 carry, 267 total, 35.5* landing angle.

If you bump launch 1* to 13* and drop spin to 2800rpm, 246 carry, 270 total, 36.5* landing angle. You'll gain 3 yards....same at 2400 rpm.

I'd say you are right at the optimum. Very nice smash factor. The only thing that would theoretically improve yardage would be a Bubba like positive angle of attack for very high launch and low spin. But since your smash is good and yardages very close to lower spin/higher launch numbers which are 'theoretically' superior....just go with it! You're set!

65-70g, mid kick, med torque....S flex is ok but on the slightly softer side of S. The 652 fits that. If you had gone Diamana, it would not have been Blueboard....which might have been all they had.

PS...Bubba style 17* launch, 2400rpm will give you 254 carry, 279 total, 39.7* landing angle.

Correct, all they had was a Diamana Blueboard. I saw it in the cart.

Is it even worth delving into more research, ie a Different Diamana or a Fuji Rombax of some sort? Asking b/c the fitter did not have, and I will not have the opportunity to test, so it will be a blind purchase using stats only.

Looking at the impact patterns, my 905r had the tightest dispersion, prob b/c it was proper length for me, 44.25, whereas all the samples were long and I was choking down. Will post those later as well as the Trackman graphs.

Here is what the fitter said about the wind factor.

"I've attached a report that "normalizes" your numbers. This means it is calculating what your distances "should" have been in the absence of wind. As you'll see the differences still carry across the clubs even though the total distances are different. Again, these are calculations, not direct measurements. The reason I don't usually look at these numbers too closely is that we are getting an even comparison between your current club and the test clubs. If you had only hit the test clubs, the conditions would present an open question but here you were getting the same benefit with all the clubs, so it tends to wash out the impact of the conditions. In comparative testing, the differences are the critical numbers, and are more important than the specific overall total distance."

And here is the attached Trackman report that was NORMALIZED.

Anyone know, given my swing profile, if the Rombax 6X07 would be better than the Speeder 652?
