Scratch Golf EZ-1

The Scratch EZ-1 irons are forged from the same soft Japanese 1018 carbon steel as our wedges.

The EZ-1 is a larger cavity back that is designed for maximum playability and forgiveness while still retaining traditional looks and the sweet soft feel of a true forged iron.

The weight is moved very low in the head and also away from the face. This increases the MOI to a level not seen before in a traditional forged iron.

The EZ-1 is the perfect iron for any handicap player that is looking for maximum forgiveness and ease of use but demands traditional looks and true forged feel.

The Sweeper/Slider iron grind is designed for the player that sweeps the ball off the turf with their irons, taking little to no divot. This players typical mishit is thin.

The grind features low bounce and a slightly thinner and flatter sole. This allows the player to get the club down onto the ball to sweep it off the turf without the extra bounce or camber getting in the way, causing a thin shot.

I've been playing with the EZ1's about a weeks now since I had them reshafted. My original thread about EZ1's. These clubs are SO easy to hit. Even mishits go straight and fairly long. I was previously playing MP32's at an 18 handicap. It's so much easier swinging the EZ1's. I didn't think the MP32's were difficult to hit but they are nothing in comparison to how easy the EZ1's are to use.

One of the best things these clubs allow me to do is hit GOOD 2nd shots. Prior to getting the EZ1's, if I bombed a great tee shot the 2nd shots were a crap shot. I may duff it, catch it thin, fat, pull it, or hit it pure. Out of 4 rounds with these clubs I have not hit a bad 2nd shot that was less than 75% of my normal distance of the iron I'm using. Pulls are greatly reduced and when I do pull the ball it's far less left than with the 32's.

The distance with the EZ1's are similar to the distances of MP32's. I think the EZ1's might be longer simply because I hit their larger sweet spot a lot more consistently. The trajectory is slightly higher than the 32's. The EZ1's get the ball up in the air fast and they go really high. My buddy has 06 Big Berthas. The EZ1's are longer and higher for sure. I think they are more forgiving also but I'm a little bias toward my clubs.

While these clubs might be a little more expensive than some of the other clubs, they are definitely worth the money! Very nice clubs that all but guarantee you a good to great 2nd shot!

I have played many set of irons recently and about 4 rounds plus driving range time with my new EZ-1's. I have played R7's, Mx200's, X20's, AP2's, Fourteen's, Srixon 701's and several others.

On top of the amazing customer service from Ari from Scratch, and I was fitted for these clubs with Nippon 1050s shafts and these things are amazing!

The wedges are chewing up my golf balls and my irons are making some arrow shots at the pin! Amazingly soft feel to the irons they come a bit increased loft from Scratch as the PW is 48* vs the standard 45* but it is really a tool from about 60-120 yards out. The shaft and iron combo are becoming a very promising tool out on the course!

With the grind on the irons from scratch, even my mis hits are good distance and straight. Much more of a true players club, but still very very forgiving IMO. IMO they play way better than the game improvement clubs on the market such as the X20's or the MX200's!

Great job with this product Ari! I love the clubs!

Thought I'd post an update to this thread. Been playing with the EZ1's for some time now. As a club ho I was thinking about getting something new not because the EZ1's were working but just because I wanted to try something different. I hit the EZ1's really well. Over the Christmas break I picked up a set of used Titliest 690mb. for $140.

After a trip to the range with the 690's it was evident that I wasn't the ball striker I thought I had become. I kinda felt like the guy in the Ping commercials who though he could go pro with the G10's. That's what the EZ1's did to me.

After the 690mb experience I've decided that I would have to be crazy to try and change irons again. The EZ1's are so easy to hit and setup so well. No sense in changing something that works. Perhaps a shaft change (I really like the feel of those KB Tours) but the EZ1 heads are staying in my bag for awhile...
