Professional Club Maker Cerfified or Tom Wishon Certified Fitter

Whats the difference between those?

I am looking for a fitter but I dont know whether to choose PCS-Class A fitter or a Tom Wishon certified fitter? What is the main difference between those 2? and which kind of fitter do you guys prefer? (new to this whole fitting thing). Thanks

It's kind of like shopping for a car mechanic. There are some great neighborhood mechanics and some poor ones waiting to go out of business.

 

A lot depends on what you are looking for- some golfers are looking for a fitting- meaning they want their lies adjusted, others want a fitting- meaning recommendations for /weight/length/flex/head/lie/set makeup, etc.

 

I'd say the most important thing is to talk to your prospective fitter and ask common sense questions and demand good answers.

 

Also, a fitting based on actual results is better than a fitting based on a formula.

Thanks for the reply. I've talked to a Wishon certified fitter, he seemed like a nice guy. He told me that the fitting session will take 2-3 hours, however its indoor with all those launch monitor and all the other equipments. I've also talked to another PCS-A fitter, his fitting is outdoor and he said the whole process will take about an hour or so. I think I might go with Wishon first b/c its 2-3 hours with same price hahaha. Thanks for the help

Good choice ...... I am sure he will make you a test club or two to take to the course or range. I was fit inside and no matter what folks say, and they will just give them time, it was a great experience and one of the test clubs proved it.

 

Wishon makes two great clubs in forged......the 560 models are almost like cheating. I choose the 555's because I like a smaller size head.

 

Enjoy your fitting ....... you will learn more in 3-4 hours about your swing and how it interacts with the equipment than you can believe.

Yea, he said he will make me couple clubs with different shaft for me to test. Im just going in for a refitting on my r7tp .

Neither "certification" comes with any sort of standard fitting plan or process, so it's not that Wishon recommends a 3 hour session and the PCS recommends a 1 hour session.

 

What each of these guys is going to do for you will be completely independent of which certification - if any- that they actually hold.

 

I'm not familiar with what Wishon does to certify clubfitters. I don't believe they have any sort of classroom sessions or exams for general fitting. I believe they only certify for MOI matching and only if you have purchased their MOI matching machine - though I may be mistaken.
