Putter reshaft - HELP!

Today, somehow, out on the course after I hit a putt, the head came off my putter... Both shaft and head are still fully intact, but i've got a competition tomorrow, teeing off at 12.45 PM. Anyways, I phoned up my local pro shop and they said to bring it in first thing tomorrow morning and they would get it reshafted for me. I'm worried, though, as it's an important competition, and if the epoxy doesn't set in time, I am screwed... I don't know what epoxy they use or anything, so don't know what the cure time is.

 

I've got some epoxy which I bought from Home Hardware, so it is not specific shafting epoxy, but it's only on a putter (no forceful impact) so i'm wondering if i'd be ok to reshaft with that stuff just for tomorrows round before getting it properly done?

Super glue will do the job unless you plan on teeing off with it. Takes 2 mins to dry and there is no chance it will move when you put with it.

That or just get them to use a tour van type epoxy if you take it in.

 

It's not as important as a putter, but I wouldn't do something too permanent in case you ever need to reshaft it again.

You absolutely 100%? Not that I don't believe you, it's just that on these greens, putting'll be hard enough with my own putter in full working order, without possibly having to putt with a wedge or something, so i'm making 100% certain...

Yeah my putter is superglued lol. I took the shaft out as it came lose with the epoxy but since i put superglue in it has been fine. Voodoo daddy has quite a deep insertion depth for a putter which may help but im sure you will be fine!

I thought about that, but forgot to ask on the phone. I don't know if I can take the chance though. I've glued it tonight, and if it's not worked in the morning, i'll take in to the shop. I'm probably going to take a spare putter and leave it in the clubhouse if my gamerturns out ok...

I have used 5 min epoxy between tournament rounds (late afternoon till early morning) on an iron, I think you will fine with a putter since there is no real load on the head or shaft.

or he could just jb weld it hahahaha. i bet he cant knock the jb weld between his head and shaft!

1. 30 minute epoxy... 5 minute will not work if it's too warm out and not hold. Probably twist during your round.

2. CLean the heck out of the tip and hosel. The less degree the better the bond.

3. 30/60 expoxy will bond and set in 60 minutes just fine for a putter. AGAIN get a sand paper drill bit and clean the hosel and inside the shaft and putter will be good as new.

 

Make sure to clean out all the debree inside the hosel and shaft, so there is no rattling.
