Driver loft question

10* vs. 11*

I'm looking at getting a new (used) driver online. A friend of mine works at a pro shop and is knowledgable about fitting. He watched me swing and recommended a regular flex in 10 - 10.5* of loft. For the model I like (Callaway FT-i - Draw bias), there seems to be better pricing on the 11*. For the average player, how much difference would there be in a 10* vs. 11* driver.

remember it also depends on the shaft that's installed not just the head.

I would be careful with the 11, the Ft-I heads are higher launching heads to begin with. The 11 could get you to the point were your launch angle is too high and your getting so much back spin you will lose all your roll, and with the Ft-i's this really is a problem because you can only get them reshafted through Callaway... I know you trust your friend but I would definitely suggest visiting a shop with an optifit cart if at all possible. Good luck with it because it really is a great head :clapping:

If all things are equal...a 1* diff. wouldn't be a big deal. You would probably benefit from an 11* more anyway. I doubt Callaway driver lofts are spot on to begin with.

 

Remember launch angle is a result of many things not just the loft of the club. Are you getting a really good price on this driver? There sure are many others out there just as good if not better for a heck of a lot cheaper.
