Diamana Observation

I've given the Diamana 73 in my R7TP a good run for about 6-7 months now. So far dispersion is noticeably better versus Fuji (I've had MW64, 757, 661, 857, Six, Vista Tour in drivers). But it doesn't seem to kick like a Fuji.

 

I started wondering the guys on the PGA and among the guys I know who have played the Diamanas used to use steel in drivers or at least fws. Is the Diamana meant to be a replacement for guys who used to play steel?

 

I've never really liked the feel of the Diamana, it feels the same on mishits and good shots. Same reason I don't play the ProV.

Not sure what your swing speed is but with my mortal 102mph avg swing speed, I've found 70 plus gram shafts too hard to load consistently throughout the round. I've tried the Diamana 73 but find the 63 version much better for me. Just my experience though.

i would agree with that assessment..

 

the diamana has a stiff tip section in the higher weights.. thus requires more ss to elevate the ball.

I would've loved to get the 63. But the 73 is the stock option on the R7TP. I thought the 73 is like 67grams? The ion plating probably brought it back up to 70+ anyhow. We're about the same SS. My transtion is very quick though. The Diamana is the only one so far that prevents the quick snap hook, well actually from a 40 yard hook it brought it down to 25 yards.

I play an 83 and launch the ball way up in the air. Most of that, of course, is the head. But I do like the feel--soft and dynamic, IMO.

Surprised to hear "difficult to load" and "less kick" regarding the Diamana. Personally, moving from a Speeder 757 I found a significantly increased kick in a 73, same flex, similar tipping. I feel as if it loads no matter how easy I swing, and acts exactly the same no matter how hard I swing. Perhaps it's setup just right for me, but I've experienced a wider range of power tolerance in this shaft than any other I've tried.

I have a SS in the high 90s and have been using the Diamana 83 in R7TP for a while and I really like the feel... certainly much more responsive than the 757 for my SS!!

I have the 757 in my R5 and it flat out RULES. I think it might be the best shaft ever. SS is about 110-115. I really want to try the Diamana 83, but I don't think I can give it up.
