Did I just buy bad balls? Titelist DT-90

I picked up some recycled Titlelist golf balls today, 15 for $10. I just opened them up and noticed they were all either DT-90, Tour Distance-90, or DT Wound 90. After researching them it seems like they were a reasonable ball, 15 years ago! I can't find the latest production date for these models. What is concerning is in a previous post I read the cores of the wound balls lost they elasticity after a couple of years from production. If these balls are that old, did I just purchase practice balls? They are Hunter (ReLoad) packaged balls and state they are Grade "A." According to them an "A" means "Like new balls with little or no imperfection."

I've only been playing golf for a few months and by no means will purchase great balls just yet. Should I just exchange these for some new balls at a comparable price?

If you can, take them back for a refund. Since you're just getting started expect to be losing A LOT of balls for a while. Reload/refurb balls sold in stores usually aren't such great deals. Go to lostgolfballs.com and get their lowest grade balls if you want to save some money.

You probably won't get much use out of them. Those balls are wound and have rubber bands wrapped around a core. The rubber deteriorates over time. Shelf life was probably 3 to 5 years max - unused. Those balls are older than that. If you hit them with the driver, they are likely to go "unround" or egg shaped. However, you could use them for practice.

Wal-mart is a good place to get new balls for a beginner. $10 to $20 range.

double dozen recycled balls are under 17 at walmart. Titleist Callaway Nike. They are from "Reload"

I don't know I have played the DT-90's that were 8-10 years old and had no problems whatsoever with them. Maybe I was lucky...who knows. Take them out and play, it's not like you spent a ton on them anyway.

I second lostgolfballs.com they have a great selection and you can pick up really good quality balls for next to nothing. Since your new to the game they are a great place to try different models so you can find the ball that works for you the best.

I play Strata tour ace. They sell AAAAA balls for 9.95 a dozen, can't beat the price and the ball is perfect for my game. It's to bad they don't make them anymore...they are hard to find even at lostgolfballs.

I buy AAAAA Titlest DT SoLo for 7.95 a dozon. I purchased 2 dozen to see the quality and ended up ordering 10 more dozen. It works out to around 0.60 cents a ball.

They are not refininshed, some are one hit and more then half look like logo overruns.

They play perfect and I don't have to go ball hunting and slow everyone down if I get paired with a group of better golfers.

I also tried some Wilson 50 compresion balls , they are soft and feel nice off the irons.

Thanks for the tips. I did get these at Wal-Mart but exchanged them today for some TM Burner LDPs. I'll give the used ball site a try in the future.

Don't forget the Top Flite D2 feel. $15 for 15. Very nice feel off the putter and wedges. This is an excellent bargain ball and because they are brand new you know exactly what you are getting.

These are a decent ball for only 6.99 a dozen!!!!!!!!! I bought some for the heck of it and they have a good feel off the driver and will check on the green. Some say they spin too much, but I like them. I have been using the D2 feels recently too and really like the feel off the putter with those.
