Shaft Advice - Ping G10 w/ NVS? Other Recomendations?

Looking for a bit of advice here, this is my first time upgrading a shaft. I love the G10, currently I have a 10.5 with a Pershing 65 Stiff. I bought this setup as is from another member here and it was a great deal, but I've been practicing tons and recently got fitted and I'm realizing I need something else.

 

My fitting recommended a Diamana BB 73 X-Stiff (just for reference it was in an FT-5 10*, but I have no interest in purchasing the FT-5). Swing speed is 110+, I have a steeper angle of attack on my driver than one would like to see, but I'm working to try and fix that. Some other numbers that he kicked out at me from the fitting was launch angle of 13.10, Backspin 2075 RPMs, Attack angle 0.57(down) (this was on my very best swing on the launch montior, 300+ yards).

 

So here's the situation, I've just purchased some new irons and I'm also getting ready to start school again so money is tight. As much as I'd love to, I can't afford a Diamana right now, I know they're awesome shafts but it's just not practical for me right now, and I just got a job at a course and am going to be practicing/playing all winter, so I don't want to be held back by my current shaft.

 

I've found some really good deals on some Aldila NVS shafts, mainly the 75 X-Stiff. To me the specs look pretty similar:

 

Diamana BB S73 X - 71G, 0.335 Tip, 0.625 Butt, 3.0 Torque, Mid/High Kick Point

NVS 75 X - 76G, 0.335 Tip, 0.625 Butt, 3.2 Torque, Mid Kick Point

 

So I'm just looking for some advice or any other recommendations. Thanks for the help

See if you can get a demo with the NVS shaft. Ping wrx describe the trajectory as low-mid compared to the Diamanas low trajectory. They also disagree with the weight/torque figures you give. Check it out for yourself:

I've had a few looks at the WRX catalog and it don't see any of the NVS listed (only the DVS & NV) and in the Blueboard they only list the 63, not the 73 that I'm looking at.

Also have another quick question, maybe someone with some Ping experience can help me out:

 

Any idea how long a 43 3/4" shaft pull would play in a G10. I'm wanting to keep my 45" club length and I'm just wondering if that shaft is going to be too short? Thanks

Apologies-My mistake. I'm looking at the wrong specs :) Your specs are correct.The NVS and the BB73 aren't on the PingWrx list but could be obtained at an extra cost. With the Diamana expensive as it is, you would have to love it to buy it. Your dynamic fitting was not with the G10 however, so the results would not neccessarily be the same. If you're sticking with the G10 (and why not) it would be wise to get another fitting with that model. A lot of people have shown a liking for the Prolaunch Red lately on the forum. The specs look similar to the BB (really this time!). Worth a look.?

Unfortunately I'm a lefty so its harder to demo stuff and around here there's no Ping places with the cart that has all the shafts I can try, so I've kinda gotta just work from my experience at my last fitting and the numbers he gave me.

 

Since I was fitted for a BB 73-X, what advantages and disadvantages would I be looking at going to a 83-X? A friend of mine might be able to get me a really good deal on one as he knows someone who is pulling a 83-X out of his driver.

The performance of the 73 and the 83 is very similar. If anything, the 83 will have slightly lower launch and spin. The 73 would be more suited to a smooth tempo swinger, whereas the 83 would suit a faster tempo swinger/hitter. Looking at your original swingspeed and in particular your "steep attack", you may be well suited to the 83g variant.
