One of the best courses in Cincinnati

I finally played Hyde Park Golf and CC in Cincinnati. IMO, I think this course is the best in Cincinnati, public or private. Originally a Bendelow 9 hole design, it was later resdesigned into 18 holes by Donald Ross. A tad less than 6500 from the tips, it still offers enough challenge.....some parts it is compact, but the routing is awesome. enjoy the pics...

I'm guessing that the greens are extremely subtle in slope, but there's no flat putt. Conditioning look very good as well, along with the routing through the mature trees, should mean a variety of shots. How'd you shoot?

A friend of mine lives in the Cincy area and plays this course in a Pro/Member/Guest format each year and he loves the course. My buddy grew up playing OSU and Scioto Country Club, so he has some pretty good comparisons. He told me the greens are usually 12-13 on the stip when they play the event.

Wow, that is really nice. You can't beat a great Ross course and that one looks top notch. I love courses that have good elevation changes and dips in the fairway like that. Great architecture. Thanks for posting. I have some great pics of Salem Country club I need to post out here.

YES, I have played Camargo Club on 4 occasions, and it was awesome, but for some reason I like Hyde Park a lot more. Not to mention I really like Donald Ross golf courses. Camargo has a serious mystique though because it is so difficult to get on. I heard they only do something like less than 8,000 rounds per year there.

Camargo is a really special place. It would not surprise me to learn they do that few rounds. I have never seen many people on the course when I have been there. As much as I love Donald Ross (I grew up on one of his best) you cannot beat a great Raynor or Macdonald course for sheer entertainment and shot values. I had never heard of Hyde Park. I will have to check it out next time I am in Cincy.

Interesting, we also have a Hyde Park in Jacksonville - also a Donald Ross. But it's crap, a victim of poor management, poor maintenance, and poor location. Hosted some nice tourneys back in the day but that day was long long ago.
