how to pick different updates??

I know they don't change much but can anyone tell me how to pick the newer ones from older ones.I am a bit confused about the different markings on the balls and which is an update or older model.
Any info appreciated.

Look at the new ball if you find a "-" in the Ball name then it is the 2005 version or the ball known as the Prov1 dash. No dash ten it is 2004 or older.

 

Pro V1 - 392 = 2005

Pro V1 . 392 = 2004

Pro V1 392 = 2003

Pro V1 * 392 = 2003

Pro V1 392 without the arrow at each end = 2002

 

If youare looking at the new box or sleeve, it will have NEW in red on it in the top left corner.

yes i believe they were meant to be the same idea as the x is today

Here is an answer I got from the titleist website. It doesn't state the years of each but they are in order from earliest to latest.

 

Below is a list

of the side stamps that would designate the order of model release

starting with the original:

 

PRO V1

<PRO . V1>

<. PRO V1 .>

<PRO-V1>

 

We also released the Pro V1 Star and X which have the following side

stamps in the order of release:

 

< Pro . V1 * >

< . Pro V1x . >

< Pro - V1x >

the pro v1.392 was just another pro v1. only the pro v1*392 was an early generation prov1 x 332. i forgot which month, but in golf digest when they had bob estes' WITB, he mentioned how it produced less spin, if my memory is correct.
