broken C4

Recommended Posts

Last week I was playin at Seaview Marriot in NJ, and my friend decided to bounce hit the ball with my C4 driver. On the first try he missed the ball and on the second try he had a perfect clean hit. The ball went straight into the air. But I heard a cracking noise and the driver head fell down on the ground. The result is a broken C4

SO I was wondering, how much does it cost to reshaft C4 in original shaft and in Aldila NV 65 shaft? I personally played well with the driver and want it to be playable even though I will get a new driver.

Call Callaway customer service and tell them what happened. I bet they will replace it with a new club, and pay the shipping. this is what happened to me, they sent me a new club with a return shipping label, no questions asked!!

I agree call callaway customer service, you should look at upgrading to the FT-3, check out my sticks and you can see that it's the only non- titleist club (excluding the rescue), it's a great driver once you get over the noise it makes.

I had a problem with a tiny bit of glue that came loose inside the head, brought it back to the shop and they replaced it no questions asked.

so if you play well with the driver, why would you fool around with it? or let you friend fool around with it......

anything i play "well" in, i wouldn't fool around with it.........or think twice about letting a "friend" fool around with it...........

just my .02.......not trying to start anything.......just some common insight on the things!

"I'm pretty sure the C4 can't be reshafted at all, even Callaway can't do it. Once the shaft is in, it's in. You should be able to pick up one on e-bay for next to nothing. Shaft selection will be limited though, they weren't very popular."

Not true...I broke mine last year during normal play and Callaway re-shafted it for free with the NV w/o any problems. Just give the cust. service a call and they will take care of it.

Alright, I don't mean this to start a big thing but:

The rest of us Callaway customers have to pay for your reshafting (indirectly). It costs Callaway money to reshaft a club. That cost ends up built into the price of the clubs. No offense, but you broke it doing something stupid. Shouldn't you just take it to a shop and have it reshafted at your cost or fix it yourself?

It's the least Cally can do considering how many people wasted money on that lousy driver.

Seriously, you make a good point, but it's a personal ethics issue. Cally already has the warranty/shrinkage factor built into all of their prices. If it got to be too much of an issue for them, they would change the warranty. But the good word of mouth their CS dept gets compared to other OEMs is more than worth it for them. Even if they have to replace clubs damaged by the fault of the customer.

Not really, Callaway creates there shafts so so cheap they could give you a new shaft for free, Plus anything callaway is under warranty for a very long time.. Lets just face it callaway doesnt make good shafts so they know they mite need to replace it now dont get me wrong there heads are the best in the busniess just there shafts need some work and there hostels

First, they can't give it to you for free. If you look at the whole process of repair (including the cost to ship it to Callaway and back, which they pay for), it's not free even if the shaft is. Second, don't want to get legal but their Warranty is a grantee against breakage when the club is used for it's intended purpose and not abused. Obviously, that's not the case here. Example, if you have a car that's under warranty and you drive it into a tree, they don't fix it for you free.

Callaway (or any good club builder) can reshaft the C4. But it won't be free. The C4 is out of warranty. Callaway will go above and beyond if you have a real sob story, but all OEMs have tightened up what they'll cover for free. I believe the Callaway warranty is now 2 years, and the C4 is way past that.

C4 is still an amazingly forgiving driver. I played one for a year (and had it reshafted) and gave it to a friend, who still uses it and loves it.
