Fitting Help

Hey guys,

 

Today was helping a mate do his dissertation, involved getting on a launch monitor for the first time. Was looking for a bit of help with choosing a new driver over the coming months. Got a few stats here, but will get a more in depth report soon. I play off a 4 handicap, am 6ft 2.

 

Was using a 9.5 905R with a Stiff UST V2 shaft.

 

For his topic I had to hit 20 balls, 5 to find a fairway, 5 going for a par 4 in one, then back to 5 solid and then again 5 at the green. Appreciate may not give a brilliant result but do have some info.

 

When hitting the fairway clubhead speed was between 105-110, ball speed 155-165, spin was between 2000 and 3000, quite a lot of variation here.

 

Going for the green clubhead speed increased to 110-120, ball speed was 165-175, spin was all over place tbh, was averaging about 3500, but did get 5900 with one shot!?

 

Finally the smash factor was pretty average across all shots about 1.5.

 

Now i'm looking for help with a loft and shaft choise, drivers in mind are the Nike Sumo/Dymo and the Titleist 909's.

 

Any help will be greatly appreciated

With 1.5 smash factors, I'd keep hitting the driver you've got.

Hmm, sure it read about 1.5 for most of my shots, with a few below. TBH I really dont know what all the figures mean.

 

It wasnt my current driver I was using, currently got a 10 FT-3 with grafalloy prolaunch in stiff, with this im getting a much higher ball flight and spin rate.

 

What do people think then, possible 9.5 Dymo/Sumo/D2 with UST, did like the way that shaft felt. Could I go X or people recomment staying with S??

Something to consider is your angle of descent - one of those models will likely carry further than the other, but roll less. A stiffer-tipped shaft will help lower your spin rates; the V2 in X will certainly do that.

Cool thanks. Think i'm getting some more info including that, so hopefully have a better idea from there
