KARAKAL Golf Grips

Anyone have any thoughts on this brand

Hey Guys,

Anybody use the Karakal Golf Grips? I have a set of these coming in, and wondering what to expect.

Chris I just had a set of the orange and black ones installed today and really like the feel of them. I just wish the seller would have shipped me the 16 I paid for instead of 10. They used to make a Tour Wrap that was similar to the Winn Master Wrap, but much tackier, softer, and more durable. I have one on an old Sand Wedge that I used to bash over a 1000 balls and that grips shows no signs of wear. I'm gonna hit the course too see how these X Tacks fair on Monday.

I remember i had one on my wedge for a bit, great at first, tacky, firm etc. just after a while they end up in tatters, i believe they should just stick to badminton and tennis racquets. But, the newer versions might take a bit more golfing to end up in tatters.

They are good when dry , but the worst grip I have ever used when they get wet! I could not get them to dry at all and I couldn't use my wedges that they were on.

I have only used one, it was on a hybrid I picked up on the BST. It has a stitch that runs along the bottom of the grip. The feel was okay, but it was too slick for me, it may have been worn out. The color options are pretty cool.

Chris the grips seemed to feel really good on the course although I would prefer something smaller than .600 only time will tell how durable they are.

Wanted to see if anyone had anymore feedback on the Karakal grips, specifically the x-tack model. In another thread it was mention that the "wetter the better" or something to the affect, does anyone have experience with these in wet or sweaty conditions.

I purchased a whole case of black X-Tack grips last year. Karakal was running case specials on some of their popular models, so I picked one up. I have to say that I really like them, and am a firm believer in their "The Wetter The Better" claim. When my hands start sweating on hot summer days, they really remain tacky. My honest opinion is that they're a low-cost alternative to Winn Grips, but every bit as good. My biggest complaint, though, and the reason I don't play them anymore, is that they are extremely limited on variable sizing. Most of their models only come in standard size, and I always play oversized grips. However, given their low cost and performance, I would certainly recommend them to anybody.

 

Oh yeah, I do still play a Karakal Grip on my putter...
