Ping G10 driver shaft advice needed

TFC 129D R
I'd like to hear from players with my profile, senior tour, 5'9"/165lbs, swing speed 90mph with smooth temp, 12 handicap, that have played the Ping G10 with the stock TFC 129 D R flex shaft. I have demoed the 10.5 loft in this shaft and it seemed like a good fit. Do you agree or have other G10 loft/shaft recommendations?

Have a G10 10.5* with TFC129D Reg. and am VERY happy with my choice. Demoed various drivers on a launch monitor and range sessions and the G10 always seemed to come out on top. Long and straight off the tee, good forgiveness on off-center hits and good feel/sound at impact. I'm also a senior with 90mph/quick tempo swing. The G10 is an easy recommend!

The G10 was in my bag all of last year and I had the best driving year of my life. I swing in the mid~high 90's and have been on launch monitors many times. With my swing I am often stuck somewhere between an R and S flex and the determining factor is often the shaft manufacturer. In the case of the TFC 129, I went with stiff, but could easily play the reg. I think the R flex would be perfect for you.

I am 44, 5'9", 150 lbs, shot in the mid to high 80's this season, hopefully low 80s next year with my new 'fitted' AP2!

Sorry, I don't know my driver SS but my 6i is around 78mph so I am between a R & S in irons so I guess I should be a R for the driver. I switched my G2 stiff for a G10 TFC129D R because I kept pushing right and wow, what a difference!

I gained a bit more distance, I'm guessing my average was around 220 meters +/- in 2008, got better control and kept most drives on the fairway. There are many better looking drivers on the market today such as the gorgeous Titleist 909s and possibly better performing but I don't think you can beat the G10 for the bang for the buck for distance and control.

My game is not at the level where I 'work' the ball or need special shafts and stuff like that so the TFC129 works pretty good for me.

If I need a bit more control, I choke down 1 or 2 inches, Ping shafts are long anyway. If my game is on, I grip it normal and let it rip.

6.7 index, consistent 95 mph swing speed with driver.

I demoed the G10 extensively on the launch monitor, and ended up going with the TFC129 shaft in stiff flex. With the regular flex, the backspin number was way too high (3,800-4,200). With the stiff flex, the spin was greatly reduced to right around 3,000. I made a mistake, though, and went with a 9 degree head (digitally lofted to 10.15 degrees). In the launch monitor, the launch angle was perfect (right around 12 degrees), at least that's what the fitter said. On the course, however, the trajectory was very low. I ended up selling the driver. I should have gotten the 10.5 head with the TFC129 stiff flex shaft.

never really had my swing speed taken, but im guessing i'm around 95-105? I can hit my pro's bridgestone with a graphite design prototype pm90x. My typical ballflight in summer was a draw, but because i had a massive move to outside during follow through. I've fixed that and i'm more of a straight ball, probably a fade if my rotation through is a bit late...hopefully that will help.

You can go to any PGA SS or golfsmith and check Your

swingspeed and spin rate , if You have access to that

type of store, hit on a launch monitor and figure out where You

are.

if You are hitting it straight , sounds like the right shaft. If You are hooking

it then You are outrunning the shaft. If a fade then need lower flex

of course considering all else is correct. Grip , clubface at address

and etc...

I have a SS of 108 with my driver with a smooth easy swing

and just switched to a 7.5 G10 "Natuarally High Ball"with an 85 X-Stiff Proto Tour

and Love it!!

The Shaft is EVERYTHING!! But, I can say I am a Ping Fan.

And have hit All OF THEM , ove the G10 , much more solid than the V2

although the V2 Irons are VERY forgiving for high handi's

mho: check SS and get a proper shaft , if You can afford it

an Accra would be nice!!

Happy G.

Thanks for the response and confirmation turnbowm. I currently play a Ping G5 with an Aldila NVS 65 R flex shaft. I like the combo but need to overswing to load the shaft which leads to inconsistency. So it is time to go with a lighter shaft and I'm glad to hear you have had good results with the Ping TFC 129D R flex in the G10.

I had the same issue as e-man. Had great launch and spin numbers on the monitor but when I got the club out on the course, I could not hit the ball high enough. I have a 92-96 mph swing speed and the Regular shaft is plenty unless you have an extremely quick tempo. I bought a 10.5 degree but wished I would have bought the 12 degree. I got great distance on dry days! This is a lower spin combination but you need to pick the right loft for your swing type.

I'm a senior, smooth tempo, slowish swing speed. I demoed a 10.5* with TFC 129 D and it launched too high much of the time. Based on good feedback I had seen on the V2HL in this forum I went with a 9* V2HL and it has been good for me, best trajectory / distance.

The HL in the V2HL stands for High Launch.

It's odd that You had a lower trajectory with that shaft than the

TFC.

I wanted to like the V2HL but didn"t like the way it felt in the

driver , FW , or hybrids.

I have had great experience with the TFC .

Not the best available like say the Accra but a great stock shaft.

I have a very high ball with the driver and had to go to a 7.5 Loft

it has givin me 20-30 more yards off the tee providing

I hit it correctly.

I am 53, was finding my 9 deg G10 was launching too high with the pro launch red so had the actual loft checked by a good clubfitter. Mine measured 12 degrees and another G10 head stamped 9* that he had in the shop measured 13*. Make sure to spend some time on the launch monitor before you buy. (Don't assume that what is stamped on the club is the actual loft) Other than the high launch the G10 goes straight is easy to hit
