email notifications

never get any

I don't ever seem to receive email notifications. I always select or make sure email notification is checked. I don't use any email filters - I get tons of junk emails! I'd rather get junk emails than miss out on something I might need.
Any thoughts?

If you can sign up for a free gmail account and then temporarily change your address, you can then see where the issue may arise. I know messages are going out. Also check to make sure you registered email address is accurate as well.

Did I read somewhere that if a topic goes a day without any posts if cancels notifications? I know that happens to me all the time. Very annoying. I've subscribed to some topics 5-6 times.

People could not figure out how to unsubscribe and mass amounts of emails were being sent out because people did not realize sometimes what "subscribed" meant. That is why it was paired back to one day.

Please try to change your email address to gmail or yahoo as a test.

Ryan, is there any way to keep the default the way it is now (pare subs after one day of inactivity) but allow a user to set it differently (i.e. go back to remaining subscribed indefinitely)?

Its currently a global setting and would require a modification to the board which is not going to happen right now.

Also, that link you sent me had delayed email notification, however, I always had it marked as immediate...weird.

How long does it take to get an email? It is 9:37pm (Central Time/Chicago, IL) and there is nothing in my Yahoo mailbox from THIS post. HOWEVER, I did receive two email notifications (in my Yahoo email account) from another post I made in the putter section.

 

ANY ideas?

you should receive an email notification from my reply now. once a subscription is pruned (after a day of inactivity) you need to either post in the topic again or manually re-subscribe to it in order to receive future notifications.

 

edit: oops, i now see that this topic hasn't gone 24 hours without any activity so you should have received notifications for the above replies.

not one email notification for this thread, however, I am getting them from another thread in which I was the original poster. Any idea why I would get notifications for one post but not for another?

Despite being set up to receive an email whenever I receive a PM, this does not occur. Unlike the poster above, I seem to receive emails whenever a thread I am subscribed to has activity, but the more important notification-- when a new PM is in my inbox-- is not being broadcast.

 

Any advice on how to rectify this glitch?

If you are receiving any type of message from the board, then it is going out. After it leaves the board troubleshooting is impossible from our side. It is probably an Internet mail provider or personal spam setting.

I just received an email notification of your post, but as I noted, that is not the problem. The problem is not receiving email notifications about PMs that are sent to me. I have checked my junk mail folder over and over for these PM notifications and there is not anything there. For troubleshooting purposes I would note the email notifications I receive specific to posts created in threads to which I am subscribed are not impacted by any Spam filter. This has not always been the case, I've only been impacted with this glitch as of late.

Please open up a gmail account and see if PM notifications are sent there after updating your email profile settings.

Gmail account in force. I will advise if this problem persists. Of course, I need to receive a PM to test. :-)
