My Swing.

Check it out.
Hey! Thought I'd show you my swing (as ugly as it is) to you all and see what you think. I'm having a tad bit of trouble with consistancy and a major swing change is in progress. These are the before pics. I will post the after pics in about 10 or so days depending how long it takes me to adjust. I'm kinda agressive with my swing (kinda hard to tell with pics) and it sometimes gets me in trouble. I have a video clip, but don't know how to put it up. If anyone knows how please tell and i'll be sure to put it up.

SWING006.jpg
Almost at impact. Couldn't get it exactally. This was probibly a way above average shot for me. It went 320 and absolutely dead straight. I average around 290 and a slight to heavy fade.

SWING001.jpg
This is another angle at another point in the swing.

Sorry all the photos i have, but i have video clips and would be willing to post them if i knew how. Let's hear those comments!

Looks nice from what I can see. Very powerful looking. You are definitely set up for a fade. If I set up like that with my normal draw, I think my tee ball would eventually come back around and hit me in the left side of my head! :)

Here's the Video! Tell me what you think.

I'll tell you what man, you sure do a good job releasing your club on the downswing. I really slowed your video down. You are a little past parallel at the top of your backswing. I notice you **** your wrist on your backswing a little late but if that working for you it's not big deal. Other than that it looks fairly good. How far do you drive it?

I'm going through some major swing changes right now, so all of the things mentioned (past parallel, balance, etc.) are all things i'm working on with a swing coach. I'm looking to gain about 10 more yards and get my accuracy to pin-point-precision in hopes of becoming a scratch golfer. Before my swing change, I drove the ball on average about 289 (carry) with the finished result being 308. My ball flight though, was pretty much too unpredictable for what i wanted, so this is my cause for a swing change. Thanks for the comments, I'm always looking for constructive criticism, so keep it coming.

Do you tend to hit a higher ball flight? First of all your swing looks very solid. From what I can see you have a very aggressive hip turn that starts off your down swing. This is probably what is giving you the distance but it can lead to a higher trajectory because it out races the upper body, causing too much weight behind the ball at impact. This could also be why your left foot is sliding out at impact. If this is the case you may want to mess around with putting more weight on the front foot at set-up. You'll find your balance will be better and your trajectory, ball flight, and distance might change. My 2 cents. Good Luck!

Great advice thanks. Anyone can drive it far if you swing as hard as you can, but that really doesn't mean a thing if your short game struggles. Another reason for my swing change. My putting is most of the time, on par, but my chipping around the green is what i struggle at. Also accuracy. Driving it 270 down the middle of the fw is much better than 308 in the trees. If I have to drop my driving average to 260, but have a near-perfect short-game/ accuracy, i'd do it in a second. Also, my body *hips) outracing my hands is also causing me to slice it occasionally. Another aspect of my swing change.

Not to get too critical But I see 2 quirks to work on. 1st is the shut club face at the top of your swing. In the video It seems like you work the club from shut @ the top, to square 1/2 way down, then a release through impact, then you hold the club face (to prevent a hook maybe) into your follow through. With this action I will guess you can manage your irons pretty well but once in a while you will release through impact & out comes a left of left hook & if you hold it open you get a right of right slice. The other thing I notice is your weight shifts to the outside of your left foot versus the inside. If you post up on your left leg a little better & square the club with your body you will improve exponentially. Double check with a down the line shot to just confirm what I see.

& Nick Faldo??? wtf NO WAY. The Kid swings like this guy duvalswing.jpg

Ok here we go. Before You get Mad & say "Hey that's a chick & I'm A dude" Hear me out. I will Point out 2 Similarities that will save you time & money. On tour there are lots of players who work the club from shut to open. Zach Johnson, Fred Funk & Morgan Pressel to name a few. The first similarity Is in the Top right picture. You both have a shut club face In this position as well as at the top of your swings.

pressel7.jpg

Since you are both smart people, you both have figured out that the only way to hit a repeatable shot, You must first clear your hips & clear them fast. Your clubface is more shut at the top than hers so you must clear your hips faster than her. Also you both must work the clubface to square @ impact or you both hit a smothered hook. She repeats the move & hits a fade. If you over cook it, you hit a big cut or slice. If you see an instructor on a regular basis & he wants you to Post on your left leg more, you must square the club at the top Like Adam Scott does below. Hope this helps & good luck.

Wow that was extremely helpfull! Seeing my swing compared to others is totally benificial. I'm actually going to the Faldo institute regularly, so i can get video taped and put next to faldo's swing. I'm improving steadily. My "coach" says that i takes 60 swings a day for 21 days to get the motion completely ingrained ito your muscles, so that it's second nature. Today I shot 79 and it's steadily decreasing (From 84 before swing change) I can already see changes in ball flight after only 7 days. Thanks again 1strunner for your critique. EXTREMELY helpfull to actually see it in another player.

Nice swing, I can see a lot of DD in there.

With your grip, maybe consider making it a bit weaker. Better players with stronger grips tend to fade rather than hook. I've had the same issue, coming into the ball with a strong grip, I held the face off to avoid the hook resulting in a fade to slice depending on my timing.
