Brett Favre just held a press conference to say he was still undecided, anyone else fell he is just stringing the packers along and doing more harm than good?? i for one feel its time for brett to ride off into the sunset.

Great player, though I hate when these guys do stay and play poorly, but he just loves the game too much I guess. I don't think he would bring team down like say Bagwell for the Astros from injuries... I think Brett could have another year in him so I wouldn't count him out.

true, favre might have another year left in him, but he might also have another 30 int season as well. the guy is a gun slinger and when you can't thread the needle like you did 5-10 years ago you are gonna hurt your team more and more. IMO i'd throw rodgers out there and have him take his lumps and move forward as opposed to being stuck in neutral.

He better make up his mind soon, so that Pack management can actually plan ahead and run the team properly (ie. drafting, trades etc).

 

Let's be honest here, the Pack need at LEAST 3 years to rebuild and be a contender again. They have a lot of holes to fill. There is no way that Brett is going to wait around for three years + while the team is in limbo.

 

Also, he is very average among QB's these days. In '05 he had 20 TD passes and 29 INT's. Those are TERRIBLE numbers. He passed into double and triple coverage again and again, with predictable results. In one game he threw 5 interceptions.

 

Brett Farve should do what's best for the team and himself and announce his retirement. His glory days are long gone, and it's only going to get worse if he keeps playing.

As much as I looooove Brett, I think it's time for him to pack it in. I don't think his arm is the same as it was 5-8 years ago. He's only going to make the players resent him if he sticks around and throws INT like he did this past season. He shouldn't want to go out like that.

I have always been a huge fan of Brett Favre. Lets face it the man has provided us with some spectacular football over the years. IMHO Brett's downfall started when Mike Holmgren left Green Bay. I think Brett is more than capable of still playing great football, just not with his current surroundings.

I think he could be productive in the right system on the right team, if he plans to stay a Packer ( which i am sure he is), i feel he would not have a very good season, let him start the season, if he can't do it, make him the back up and let him help develop the other QB's on the team.

 

He has a tough decision, i'm sure he thinks he can go on playing, but like stated, the player he was, i hate to see him overstay his time and go out with less than what he deserves as his legacy.

Honestly, Brett Favre is one of the few players in the history of the modern NFL who's decision will definitely be the right one no matter what he decides. The man has given everything he has to his team and it has always been for the team. If he decides to stay another year, I'll cheer for him all the way. If he decides to retire now, I'll celebrate his career. The only other person who comes to my mind who has earned that right is Barry Sanders. Many say he retired early, but considering all that he had given to Detroit (with a much lower yield thanks to management!) I can't see how anyone could have asked him to do more.

As a life-long Packer fan, I hope Brett plays better than last year and the Packers are respectable. :)

Iron Man can do whatever he wants. He has earned it, BUT I don't think the Packers organization has helped him in the offseason. IF I were him I would retire. He's probably going to take a beating this year. They don't even know if Jevon Walker is going to be there. Good Luck Brett!
