Tough carry over water!!

I just thought I'd share a couple of pictures taken from the putting green of my club in Fargo, ND. The top one is of the #1 tee box and the second is of 18 green (covered).

As you can see the start to our club's season is a little bit away. FYI, 18's tee box is about 20 feet under water. :D Third highest flood in the past 100 years. :stop:

Cool. My place has been open for about 2 weeks now, hit the driving range yesterday and plan on getting 18 in on Thursday. Just haven't had the time to get over there yet for a quality round.

I'm jealous! My group is headed west to high ground to play next week. 4 or 5 rounds in 3 days. I can't wait.

FYI, our range should open this week and the 17 holes should be "dry" by Easter, weather permitting. These spring floods are a pain, but are easy on the turf. Summer floods kill the grass up here.

Our supeintendent will have them between 10-12 by June. It's the one place on the course where there is a nice deep sand drainage system. The rest is ancient lake bottom (top soil and clay).

I was just out there today and the area that was flooded is greening up nicely. :D

I played my first 18 in Mass about 4 weeks ago, 6 am tee time. our foursome bounced two balls off of a pond (ice) and on to the green... It's a whole new dimension of golf!

Well the river is now below major flood stage and now you can see what it has left behind. About 3 inches of silt, muck and mud. Yuck. Luckily the greens still had their covers on so they are fairly clean. It's been sunny and 65-75 for the past week, IF the weather stays like this we'll be golfing 18 in a couple weeks.

Golf in Mass. in mid March. Yikes!! that must be real cold.

I'll be playing some western North Dakota courses this week. They are must plays if you are ever in the state. Most people think of ND as flat and boring, but out west its a different story.
