Good Courses in Miami

I may be renting a place in Miami for several months during the winter (I'm in New York, supposed to be a record cold winter)... what are some recommended golf courses (not too hectic, not crazy expensive). I'd play some rounds around 100 bucks, but also looking for some recommendations of places that are about 40-70 bucks. Cheers all in advance.

I'd try and play the Blue Monster & Great White at Doral once while you're down there. I played the Monster in late Aug this year and while the heat and humidity were awful, the course was fantastic; prime condition, too. Something to think about anyway.

Don't depress me about the information of what's upcoming for this winter...!
Can't give u much recommendations on golf courses in Miami. I do go to FL (Miami) 2x a year to visit family, but the courses I go to with my brothers in law would DEFINITELY NOT interest you at all. So, I'm just gonna sit back & watch what others recommend to u... who knows, at least I'll have the info. and might someday decide to go to a real good course while in FL (yeah right... I got cheap-o's golf buddies)

As someone who lives in Miami I will first say if you are not a resident getting rates below $100 will be challenging without using a golfnow or other type of website. All prices below are estimations (within 5-10 bucks or so) and include carts. I got relocated for work down here last year from the NYC area and was shocked at the prices as I really thought it would be more reasonable.

Doral is crazy expensive right now, no locals discount, with the monster being $300+ and the Great White is $250-275

Biltmore is a really strong course, I know right now it is $70 or so for residents, probably about 110 or so for out of state.

Miami Beach is $75 if your local or about $150 if your not. I believe Crandon Park is also in this ball park.

I believe courses towards Broward may be cheaper but I dont venture up that way too often to give you a good sense of pricing.

I think you can see where I am going with this. Golf isn't cheap in Miami, especially if you are not a resident...

That said, getting a license is a joke and takes about 5 mins.

Regrettably, no. But do be careful regarding your driver's license; if you reside here for longer than 30 consecutive days, FL law requires that you transfer your license from the previous state to FL, along with your auto insurance.

A PITA, but I personally know someone who ignored a summons for that and was arrested, detained, and arraigned for it here.

Miccosukee in Kendall

Of all of those listed miccosukkee is the only one worth playing. Jillian, costa and calusa are like playing in someones backyard. If you Want a course with good grass, layout and price play miccosukee after 2pm for $35.

I just played Costa yesterday at 10 am for $29 and the fairways and greens were not bad at all, except for a couple of holes, but personally I like to play early so for the money its not bad at all, however in the summer when the premier card is available I play at Doral, Crandon, Miami Beach, for $30 anytime but since its not available now these are good

From my experience Calusa is more ant hills than grass (I mean 2 foot tall ant hills covering the fairways), Killian is just a course built in peoples back yards under industrial powerlines riddled with crab grass, and Costa is mediocre. Miccosukee holds tour events, the only complaints I could make are that 1-2 of the 27 greens have big sand patches and there is more water than I care for. When I can't play my home course Miccosukee is my first choice in the winter. Biltmore is a nice course but I'm not gonna pay $97 when I can play for $35 at a longer course with 27 holes 10 minutes away. Even in the summer it's $56 for a resident with a cart and around $30 to walk (with no yardage markers).
