can the shaft be to weak?

I used to struggle with pushing and sometimes slicing my old R7 with a stiff Aldila NV shaft, I have had a 905r with the V2 X flex shaft and have seen my slices and pushes becoming a less and less occuring shot and actually have been drawing the ball with it.
This has surprised me because the R7 has a somewhat closed face while the 905r is a square face.

So my question is do you think the reason I struggled with my old driver more often was because the shaft was actually to flimsy for my swing?

The reason im asking is because I have always heard that having a shaft to weak for your swing would lead to pulls and hooks rather then pushes and slices.

Does anyone have any opinions on this? Im curious if the shaft could be the reason I struggle with the right side of play so much with my R7.

Maybe the V2 just fits your swing better. Is the V2 the same weight and length as your NV? Maybe you are just more confident with the larger 905R than the R7.

 

My misses with my backup driver a Mizuno Mp-001 400cc at 45" are too the right, but I miss left with my Bridgestone J33R at 44.5" with an Accra T70.

 

When I switched to the Bridgestone at a shorter length with a heavier shaft my slices dissapeared. I now hit a nice draw. When my tempo is off I tend to miss to the left.

My shaft in the R7 is 65 grams while my shaft in my 905r is 75 grams, and both shafts are at the stock length of 45"

 

It might be the added confidence of the new 905r as well.

Sounds like a torque issue to me. Your aldila NV in the R7 has 3.5 torque where the V2 65 X has 2.9 torque. Also the 905R being 2.5" bore through stiffens the tip and torque. So with your tempo you where probably leaving the face open through the swing with the 3.5 torque NV and having it close faster with the 2.9 torque V2, thus keepin the face square and less push or slice.
