My great ball test, or my great lack of feel

Z-URS, B330S, new HX 56 and new Pro V1
I just played 9 holes this afternoon and hit these balls off every tee, picked a second shot, hit them all again and so on.
me, 103-105 mph driver S.S., medium high ball hitter, plenty-too much spin, scratch player (just got my Am status back in Dec.) 52 yrs old
First off I must confess that I could not tell a difference in the feel of any of these that were struck solidly. I could tell by looking at the dimple patterns which was the Cally but if the ball weren't marked I probably could have played the others and not know which was which. I didn't put a NOP in there because I spin the shi!! out of them and the NOB is too hard for my taste.
I think the Pro V1 spins the most and the B330S the least. The Z-URS and the Cally seem to be about in the middle. The Pro V 1 seemed to balloon a little into the wind compared to the others and the B330S and Z-URS seemed to be the least affected. Half shots stopped well with all but there again the Pro V 1 was the easiest to stop and the B'stone and Srixon were the easiest to get to roll out. All in all I think for the type of golf I play here in central Fl. close to the ocean where the wind blows all the time I will either play the B330S or Z-URS for the near future. If I go to other courses for tourneys I may paly the Pro V1 if they are harder and faster.
I think this says a lot for the premium balls out today that there are that many out today that are so closely matched and to the fact I have now feel. :)
your milage may vary
One thing I forgot to mention is the schredding of the covers. I hit all of them with my new spin milled Vokeys and could find very little difference in the covers. I could tell where I hit them with full shots if I looked very closely but I didn't fuzz any either.

not really, like I said I could see they had been hit, I could see 3 minor lines on the ball but not schredded with "hair" growing on the side. I think a lot has to do with how tight the lies are also. I'm playing in a tourney this weekend and the course I'm playing is normally very tight and hard so whichever ball I choose will get the ultimate test. My course is semi private and during the winter and early spring it is not very closely mown due to the amount of play the the snow birds give the course.

Just for a counter point...the "new 2006 NOB"...is wonderful, I thought much softer than the old Black..still crazy deep and amazing in the wind, great cover too...

thanks for the review!

your right! the feel is exceptional with this ball. I found it a tad shorted then the new prov1x of the driver but it feels as soft as the prov1 when putting and chipping. The only problem with the ball is around the green. While it feels exceptional, it doesnt spin enough, compared to the V1x
