Hogan GCD Tour Forged - VFP black shafts

Any experience or info?
Ran into a set of Hogan irons today that I've never seen. Hogan GCD Tour Forged with VFP black shafts. The color of the shaft is like the KBS black nickels. A little research completed - VFP = Variable Flex Point - APEX 4.

Anyone out there familiar with these clubs and or these shafts?
A few positve remarks from you guys and these will be a no brainer for me.

I currently play the 98-00 Apex blades with 5.5 Flighted Rifles.
Can anyone compare them to the Apex blades?

Haven't found any info on the hogan site showing specs or the shafts.

I played with those clubs from when they first came out - 1995 - until two months ago when I switched to some Pings. I loved my Hogans, I was very confident with them. Why did I change? Grooves were getting worn and I guess after 14 years I wanted something new. I did change out the shafts 5-6 years ago to a frequency matched set, but originally I had the the Black apex 4 shaft and they played fine with that.

Clubs are workable, feel great on pure shots, but not as forgiving as my new Pings.

Picked the Hogan GCD's today and they're in 9/10 condition. Up next to my APEX blades they look large with more offset. They don't have the natural beauty of the Hogan blades and actually look a little "techy" by 1996 standards. The black steel shafts are what really sets them off!

Unfortunately I still haven't located any specs on these clubs, other than they were made 1996-97.
If anyone has the specs please share!

Gonna give them a whirl, this weekend and see how they stack up to the APEX's.

Thanks for reading my ramblings...and feel free to share any experience you might have ahd with these irons.

from the hogan legacy iron chart. I have this saved on my computer, as I have several sets of Hogan irons myself. sorry it wont copy and paste.

1 iron 17 degree loft 56 degree lie 39.75 length
2 iron 19 57 39.25
3 iron 21 58 38.75
4 iron 24.5 59 38.25
5 iron 28 60 37.75
6 iron 31.5 61 37.25
7 iron 35 62 36.75
8 iron 39 62.5 36.25
9 iron 43 63 35.75
E iron 47 63.5 35.00

I dont know anything about the shafts, as after Ben Hogan Company was moved from Ft Worth, then the real Hogan apex shaft was not made or no longer available. They say Dynalite Gold by True Temper is the replacement for this shaft. (it is a chrome shaft, not black).

I have found that KB shafts are a good replacement for the original Hogan Apex shafts though.

Thank you - appreciate your help!
The shafts actually say Hogan Variable Flex Point on the front of the label.
On the back it says VFP Apex 4.

Sounds like a flighted version of the Apex shaft.

Thanks again

Have you had a chance to hit the GCDs? Are they forgiving? I saw a cheap set at a local shop and thought of getting them. Thanks.
