Courses Near Desert Mountain

Will be in Scottsdale the first week of January. We will be staying at a family house in Desert Mountain and getting in early on a Wednesday morning and am looking for the best option to get 18 in that afternoon that is close. Going to get 36 in on Friday at Greyhawk.

 

For reference I have played most courses in the area but it's been a couple of years.

 

I also heard that they have re-arranged the courses at Troon.

 

Basically, I guess I am just looking for any recent knowledge and suggestions of the local courses.

You don't say if you have access or not. All of the suggestions are so far are private.

The nearest public to DM is Legend Trail. It is a pretty good course, although it is cartball golf routed through real estate.

Don't know if you have checked out Vista Verde. It would be my #1 recommendation. It is down the road from Troon N. You can find some reviews in this sub-forum. (go there if you are interested in good golf, not if you are seeking the amenities of the "country-club-for-a-day" experience). Also a great value: $75 weekdays, $90 on weekends (golfnow).

Others nearby Cave Creek:
- Rancho Manana. Not recommended.
- Dove Valley: RTJ2, never played it
- Tatum Ranch: Private, but I think they allow outside play. Pretty good course.
