Best 125$ or less in Tampa area

My wife and I will be visiting Tampa and I want to play a few decent courses without breaking the bank.
I'm a 7.8 index if that helps. Looking to play 3 or 4 rounds for the week, wife wants to play once and then hang on the beach.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I don't know what the fees are but I enjoyed Innisbrook a couple of years ago. I liked the Island course better than Copperhead myself.

Looks like Innisbrook is out of my price range.
So far I'm playing Dunedin, The Bayou club, Club Renniasance, and the Bardmoore.
Any feedback on those?

Checkout Worldwoods about 45 minutes north of the city and also TPC Tampa. TPC is about $150 for a round but the replay rate is like $50 so average cost for two rounds is reasonable on a nice track.

+1 for the World Woods mention. They've got two excellent Fazio courses there that are always reasonably priced, but it's also possible to find some online specials (even this time of year) and they're only ~1 hour north of the airport. The Pine Barrens course is the second-best public course in Florida according to both Golf and Golf Digest.

Dunedin is what I consider my home course (even though it's a half hour away). It's a wonderful old Donald Ross course that's in fantastic shape. Tight fairways and almost constant doglegs, but still fair. Most holes have Ross' table-top green complexes. Even has a little elevation change to it, which is pretty rare in the Tampa area.

Played Bardmoor once a couple of years ago and wasn't blown away. It wasn't a ripoff or anything, just not very memorable. It's always in good condition, though, from what I hear.

Thanks for the info. I love older courses and Dunedin really piqued my interest. How about TPC Tampa?

TPC is very good but expensive. Fox Hollow is very good too. Most of the courses greens are overseeded w/ rye grass this time of year and the greens aren't very good. Accept Fox Hollow and Westchase which have paspallum grass which doesn't need to be overseeded. That's why I reccommend those two courses

Don't mean to thread-jack, but could I add a request for feedback on courses south of Tampa and down to Ft Myers?

I always hear World Woods is the best in the "Tampa Area" but its too far north for a spring training baseball trip I'll be taking in March.

What's the word on Ft Myers / Port Charoltte / Punta Gorda? Looking for a mid-prices course that won't kill a high-handicapper, but won't bore a mid-skill level player.

We booked through TeetimesUSA and got really good rates for golf. I think TPC Tampa was $89, and that was the most expensive green fee.
As long as the greens are rolling true and with decent speed, I'll be happy. It's been raining for 2 weeks here and 44 degrees. Golf in shorts is what I'm after!!!!

Lake Jovita was a very nice course. 36 holes. I even saw Mr. Boo Ya!!! himself, Stuart Scott. Not that that should persuade you.

I really enjoyed River Strand when I played there last summer. A ton of water on that course, but I'm used to that.

South of the Bay in Bradenton is Waterlefe. It's probably the toughest course around here. Lots of water and gorgeous views of the Manatee River. River Strand is nice, but not much of a challenge. Like a lot of FL courses it's aesthetically pleasing, but not much of a challenge. If you're looking for another great course that not many play then go to Port Charlotte and play Riverwood. The whole course is fantastic, but the back nine is awesome.
