Too cold to play in Atlanta, so why not?
With another day with highs struggling to reach 32 today in Atlanta, figured it was as good a time as any for a WITB. My cutoff for play is a high of about 42 and no wind - I just can't play if it's colder than that, and it looks like we're going to have another week of highs in the low 30s. GolfWRX will have to be my golf fix for now.

Starting with my faithful companion of the last ten years, my Scottish Terrier, Doctor Watson. He's not in my bag, but his likeness is:

DrWatson.jpg

Here are my wedges. 58 degree Vokey spin milled, 56 degree Cleveland 588, and Ping Eye 2 PW. This set of Eye 2s were given to me by a fellow I caddied for around 1991 and have been in my bag ever since, with only a handful of brief hiatuses:

Rest of the Eye 2s, 3i through 9i:

Face pics of the irons. I love Pings - impossible to wear them out, though there's no hint that there ever was paintfill in any of these grooves :D . If it stays this cold I may fix that:

My 21-degree Ping G10 3-hybrid. I carry a 3i and the 3-hybrid, since I hit the hybrid longer and higher. I bought this used last year very cheap with a regular flex shaft. Need to re-shaft it as this club can turn into a hook-machine very quickly for me with that regular flex. I want to put an S300 shaft in here, just have not gotten to it:

Mizuno 16.5 degree 4-wood, took the place of a 3-wood and 5-wood. Really like this club, no shorter than a 3-wood from the tee and much better off the deck. Stock Mizuno shaft, but I like it and think Mizuno woods are a nice unheralded surprise:

Doctor Watson's likeness, courtesy of Daphne's. Just got this headcover, and he's a little tight on the driver. I hope he loosens his grip on the driver with some use:

Driver that's covered by Doctor Watson. This club comes and goes - driving the ball is my weakness as I hit it too long and often too wrong. Might make a change this year as I've never been able to get comfortable with the way the HiBore looks at address. That said, I know full well that it's the Indian and not the arrow:

Last club is the experimental belly putter. Time for a new grip on this one, but so far this experiment is working. Belly putters take some getting used to, but I'm trying to commit to this for a full season in hopes that it improves my stroke with a conventional putter:

Here's the full setup in my Mizuno carry bag. Love the bag - it's big enough that it works when I have to ride but it's in no way too heavy to carry, as is my preference. Excuse my lack of photography skills - some of you on this site take pictures that put these to shame! The Scottie headcover looks much larger than he is in person:

Comments are welcome. Nothing fancy and I've tried other irons but no matter what, I play better with my trusty old Eye 2s.

Yes, the 56 and 58 degree wedges are quite close in loft. The reason I carry those two is because that Cleveland 588 56 degree is the best thing for me out of greenside bunkers since I wore the grooves off of my old Hogan Special SI. I've never found another sand wedge as good as that one, but the 588 is pretty good.

The 58 has only 8 degrees of bounce, so I don't play that out of bunkers unless the sand is really wet and packed down - like when I get out the morning after a rain before the grounds crew rakes the bunkers.

Basically the 56 is a single-purpose greenside bunker club. Any other shots around the greens are usually the 58 or PW, with occasional forays into the 9i, 8i, and 7i on the rare occasions when I'm smart and don't short-side myself. :D
