Dallas, TX Where Should I play?

I am headed to Dallas for a few days at the end of January and I am looking for some suggestions of the best course in the area to play? I will only have time for one round but want to play somewhere really good. I know both TPC courses there are private but can anyone offer some other suggestions? I am not that familiar with the area. Thanks

The TPC course is a private course, but there are specials where you can play as a non-member. I don't know what the current rates/deals are, but I am sure a quick phone call would get you the info you need.

Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine...round includes lunch and non-alcoholic drinks.

Cowboys is a great place to play. I would also consider The Tribute in The Colony...18 holes from Scotland right on Lake Lewisville. Where it is windy all the time...like Scotland.

Depends on what you want to pay and where you are located. You can drive an hour and a half from one side of the DFW metroplex to the other, so some courses may not be worth it.

There is a website I use for discounted golf that you might find handy: www.2020golfdeals.com.

Ft. Worth, I would suggest Fossil Creek or the Resort Course near the Tx Motor Speedway, recently changed names. Iron Horse is also decent for a low cost track.

Around the DFW Airport, I like Texas Star and either of the Bear Creek courses.

In the Carrollton\Lewisville area the Indian Creek (Creek Course) is good and affordable. Castle Hills greens are in rough shape, but is is a fun course.

I too like the Cowboys Golf Club a good choice. Others worth mentioning are:

Texas Star, Euless
Tour 18, Flower Mound
Buffalo Creek, Rockwall
Bridalwood, Flower Mound

Someone mentioned Twin Creeks, a course I really like, but currently they are having problems. The carts have weak batteries, no merchadise in the pro shop (not even golf balls), they no longer have a GPS system, bunkers are in poor condition, and they are out of score cards.. that said I will probaly play there today. However I would not recommend it to someone visiting our area.

Of the four I mentioned I would suggest checking Buffalo Creek before playing.. I have not played there in a couple of years, and they may have gone through some changes. When I did play there the course was really nice, and they cross cut the greens which was good for putting.

golden bear golf center gbgc.net is the best cab option from galleria.

I recommend Texas Star in Euless and The Tribute in The Colony. After watching the Open last week, I have to say they got numbers one and eighteen spot on.

Thought you had to stay at the Four Seasons to get on the TPC, but I could be wrong. Second on Tribute. Never played Cowboy's, but Grapevine is right next door and is an excellent course. Haven't played Texas Star or Tour 18 yet, but can't wait to!

Agreed on the Golden Bear Practice Center! If it's too hot, you can hit balls on the simulator at either PGA Superstore. Remember you'll have to call a cab to pick you up once you're done at any range in the city.
