Some Answers To Some Of Your Questions

Hello everyone… hope you all had a great day. I’m a bit short on time today but I thought I’d quickly answer a few questions that keep coming up in reader email. Let’s not waste any time and get right to it!

We’ve been getting a few questions asking about a few different TaylorMade products that have been popping up at some Dick’s Sporting Goods shops. It’s not uncommon that certain manufacturers will create “deck lines” or “exclusives” for certain retailers. It’s a way for these stores to have something that no one else has. The majority of the deck clubs that I’ve sold in the past are more pricepoint items that resemble something that the company has had in the past. We’ve had a few emails asking about the TaylorMade R5 XL driver and the matching fairway woods and hybrids. We’ve seen this from TaylorMade before… remember the 580XD fairway woods? So are these worth a look? Sure. We’ve had a few emails from readers that have hit them and they report that the clubs feel pretty good. Are they as good as the R7 line? Nope… and they’re not designed to be either.

We’ve also had a few questions about the Aldila VS Proto shaft. This shaft has just been released to equipment companies and distributors and promises to be one of the finest shafts that the company has ever produced. It features nanotechnology… one of the new buzz words in golf… which basically makes the shaft more consistant. The VS Proto already has a few wins this year on the PGA Tour and it will be worth a look!

Callaway Golf has officially introduced thier new Fusion Wide Sole irons. Think of them as a Fusion iron on steriods… or a cross between the Big Bertha iron and the current Fusion iron. I’ve had a few requests for these at my shop already and the added forgiveness combined with Fusion technology should make these a popular item. My customers have really started to warm up to the Fusion irons… the look was a bit much for people at first but they seem to really enjoy them once they hit them. Watch for these in stores very soon…. or check them out on the Callaway website.
