Still searching for a driver shaft...

So, I'm still searching for a driver shaft. I need something that is med firm in the tip and firm in the butt. I prefer something in the 70 to 80 gram range. (I usually spin the shafts <60 gms too much.)

Also, preferrably not anything in the NV line.


I am putting it into a Titleist 905 S head, 8.5*. I was fitted for that head and the NV 85-s shaft. (However, it is the Titleist shaft, which is proprietary. It freq's. out at 256 cpm. That's just a bit too soft.

Any ideas would help in an attempt to eliminate a group of shafts.

Hard to interpret your 256cpm NV but usually NV's will fall around 258-261cpm finished at 45", ungripped. If you got a lower spec shaft (with the volume of NV's being made today...quite possible) and a heavier 905 head....256 at 45" is definitely possible and alittle soft for this shaft.

 

You'd need to talk to someone like Joe Kwok to really narrow down the options based on your swing.

Ultimately what will determine success will be the installation. Most are so focussed on the hardware that they forget (esp with Titleists) that the installer will make or break the performance and playability of the shaft.

 

I had a 757 come in, brought by a local teaching pro. I got 289cpm at 45"....it was a stiff flex. I told him...."it's been tipped Larry. There's no parallel tip section left". He said, "So it won't hook?". I said, " I dont' think so" :)

try the V2, I had one in my 905T and have one in my 905R, very good shaft for Titleist heads
