New iron shafts

What should i use???

Hi there,

I have a set of Ben Hogan Apex FTXs (2-E) with the stock steel stiff shafts in them...I have a friend who works at a golf supply shop that has a launch moniter and after tinkering around for a while we came to the conclusion that I need a x-stiff shafts in my irons...I just don't know what to get??? I'm a decent golfer (HDCP 4) and looking for a medium to high flight and am not to bothered about distance as i hit it plenty far. So i suppose accuracy is the most important feature! Any ideas and suggestions would be wonderfull, especially any experience anyone has with shafts in their irons...I really like the idea of the Royal Precision RIfle Project Xs and the Royal Precision Rifle Flighted shafts but i am completely open to suggestions

Also what tip diameter do i need to get? spose that might be a question for the clubmaking forum hey?

I know what you're going through right now. I just got a different shaft in my irons except I wanted the opposite flight of what you desire. (Low compared to Mid or High). Royal Precision makes a great shaft, I have Rifle Flighted 6.0 in my wedges, they're awsome. In my opinion, there isn't a ton of difference between Project Xs and Rifles in order to spend more money on PXs. Both get up quickly, and flatten out or bore. I suggest getting a 6.5 flex seeing as your buddy suggested extra stiff. I would have all Rifle shafts in my clubs if my trajectory wasn't so gosh darn high. Solid, smooth shaft. Well worth it.

Black gold ! Not as harsh as PX and behaves similarly to px ..

 

Another way underated shaft. Harrison Professional Steel. Same smoothness as rifle.. but better feedback and lower trajectory than rifle. Most important .. cheap.. but just they dont come in tapered.
