Copper underlay

Ok I have been informed that the new 06 TP MB Tour issue has a copper underlay much like the MR-23...

Wow, these thing feel so incredibly good. In my personal opion they feel softer than the 05 CB and the Miura Mb Tour issue / Still the verdict is out, but TM will not, I repeat will not disclose who forges these. Actually they clain that they have an agreement with their vendor not to disclose this info...

I may be wrong but I thought all chrome plating required a copper underlay in order to give teh chrome a place to seat.

you can use nickel as well.

Not copper underlayed. If they were you wouldn't be paying $999 for a set. Nickel much cheaper and still in the right place in the periodic chart.

Still not. The last Tour set from a major manufacturer with copper underlayment was Mizuno TN-87s. I have a set of "tour issued--right from the tour department 06 TM MBs and have changed the shafts from rifle to dynamic gold. Filed the top of the hosel, got out my 10 power loupe and no copper ring. The problem is the platers---most don't even have a copper bath anymore for underlayment in chrome. All have switched to nickel, cheaper and less problems.

Decide for your self. Here are some pics. Retail PW and Tour PW 06 TP MB's/ Satins are different and head shape and markings are smaller on Tour Issue. Also the Tour Issue hosel Pictured has a scuff from bending and you can clearly see the Copper. (It could be copper-nickel, but Copper is prevelent.) I will say that the Tours are night and day softer than the retail counterpart. Also as you see in my 300 proto Post. Certain players get WHAT they want, if you know what I mean. 300 protos with swirls? 1-2 mm offset....TM works with there pros...

if that first pick it almost looks like the top one has less offset.. could be the angle.. Can you show more hosel and ferrule on that bad boy...or maybe a pic at address.

Looks retail to me, based on Boom's retail vs. tour pw pic...your finish looks like the retail one, and also the 'p' looks a lot more like the retail 'p' than the tour one

IMHO the 06 RAC TP MB's feel like crap..1 round and they were gone..They don't even compare to the 05 Tour RAC TP's Muira/milled face..It is VERY evident that TM went to a different fordging house to produce these..For $1,000 retail, go the extra $400 and get the Muira's, you won't be sorry and you'll own something a little special even..

as for Miura..who cares.. not like they are the only ones that can make "butter" irons... Geez I like em' but I wouldn't call 06 MB = crap ? I guess everyone has different feel and it's certainly subjective but sometimes you all make it sound a little more personal then just a honest review.

there is a top and bottom one...the bottom is tour for the first pic...the second pic where the toes are pointing down, the one on the left is tour

What does the #2pic show thats different ? I have a tour set with no ser # and i'm trying to understand what the pic tell. The first one alos seems like it has a wider sole than the retail is this correct ?

Also The second picture shows the different Satins. Tour is more of a pure satin while the retail looks almost a bit shiny?

06 TM TPs are coin forged from the same contractor that does their retail forgings in Taiwan. I have 06 TP MB Tour Issues, and was told by Artie(Tour Van artisan) at the Barclays last week.
