Sandestin cheap courses

monkeyboy

Recommended Posts

Looking for recommendations for cheap courses in Sandestin area. Staying with family in Sandestin (Hilton) and Ft. Walton area next week. Wanted tog et out with my kids (16-good player, and 14-novice player). I'll likely play by myself one or two days at Raven/Kelly Plantation...wanted some inexpensive courses to bring the kids.

Was thinking that a twilight round might be the most economical...seen some for $20-$25 on golfnow.com right in Sandestin (Links, Baytowne). Would prefer not to drive far.

Any other courses?

Now there is a name fom the past! How's it going?
Heading to Sandestin with the family for Spring Break next week. Then Jekyll for a family golf outing in early June.
Had a light year last year as I fractured my toe and needed about 8 months to get to a better place...not perfect yet, but better.
I ditched the Nicklaus stuff in favor of Exotics...really love them all...Nick was still good..as a matter of fact - I just bought a Nicklaus 5 wood to fill a gap in my bag - $20! I had one a few years ago and gave it to a friends kid who was a fellow lefty. I didn't want to spend $300 on a 5 wood. I had Dana fit my irons, wedges, putter - but not woods...I had a really good idea as to what was a good fit for me. My kids consume most of my disposable money now...uggh.
Good to hear from you!
Paul

Yeah Dana fit my irons as well some years ago but not woods. Yeah been light on the golf for a few years now as well for me too. Just never got all the way back after the back surgery. Just before I was injured was playing the best of my life but the couple years since the back just won't hold up to many rounds so still enjoy but just play here and there every now and then.

Always interested in the exotic fairways they just seem so expensive did you get a deal on those too?

Really love the Exotics lines. Square face, solid.
I think I got the 3 wood for @$200 and the hybrid for @$150...I forget the exact numbers.
Since they change their lines, the older models are cheaper...cb-1, cb-2, xcg, xcg-v, xcg-3. I tried so many 3 woods in the past and hit the exotics better than anything else from the tee and the deck. Same with teh hybrid.
Do you play left handed? If so, let me know and you can try them...I have a range pass at Trophy Club in Alpharetta.

No unfortunately I am right handed. But would still love to play sometime with you guys maybe a few weeks after you get back from destin. Did you get the 3 wood off ebay and change shafts?

PS> Not sure if you been if not but before leaving destin check out the donut hole for breakfast awesome the family will love you for it! For dinner check out deweys and louisiana lagniappe. Have a great time love destin.

  • 2 weeks later...

To close this thread, I ended up playing Sandestin Links and Kelly Plantation
Links
Was said to have alot of water and was scenic. OK, both were true. Got a great price of $25 each at @2:15pm. Course was fine - not as green as some of the other surrounding courses - but well worth the $25 fee. Water was not really a problem even though many holes were water holes. Wind played around with us a little bit. Only lost 2 balls during the round. Very scenic. Typical resort golf course...not too dificult. Would play again as a low cost place.

Kelly
Paid $60 for me and $40 each for my kids for a 2:30 pm tee time. My wife decided to ride with us and they charged us $25 for her to ride (OK, whatever). Course was in really great shape. Again, typical resort course. Scenic enough...but for the cost - I would have played Links again. Kelly just didn't have alot of memorable holes. Yardage system in the carts and cold apples on #10 were good....but not worth the $175 - in my book.
