increased 4mph in 10 swings

Hey all i have been reading on building up clubhead speed so I thought i would try some stuff i have read. I warmed up and was swinging drivers around 107-111. Then i grabbed a shaft without a head and swung as fast i could with it for about 10-15 swings. then the next 3 drivers swings were 115 mph! my smash factors were only 1.42-1.45 but i was suprised at the results. Tomorrow i am going to try the same thing but this time with a weighted club instead of the superlight shaft.

That's pretty much the same approach as the Swingnature, just it probably didn't cost you +$100.00!. Good luck increasing your speed.

It's very good to just practice to swing faster I did much swinging without the ball before, just swinging as fast as you can. There must be some kind of neural adaption that makes it more natural to swing faster

Great workouts doing this! Try swinging fast with just the club aswell!

i would advise not to use a weighted club. i used it before and it really threw my tempo off. i was swinging faster but didn't get more distance because my tempo was messed up. after i sold the weighted club i was watching sports science and they did test to see if you would hit longer if you practiced with a weighted club and i forgot who the golf pro was but he was hitting it shorter and too much to the left and right. so don't do it just work out your upper body and stretch alot for more flexibility

Try swinging 10 swings with a 10% heavier driver, then 10 swings with the light one, then 10 with your gamer. Its amazing the increase in speed within a few weeks of doing this

A few years ago I bought the 275g Momentus Power hitter. Since you can actually hit balls with it, a few buckets at the range and my SS increased dramatically.

I am completely opposite when it comes to your post. I find the weighted club actually helps my tempo as I can swing easier yet it still feels like I'm maxing my speed. To each their own though.

Just browsing around today, and came across this post.
I saw the same Sports Science. The difference here is that that the discussion is about training for speed, not simply using a heavier club for a few swings, and then a lighter one for speed for a few swings.

Physiologically, the concept is sound. Runners use this approach in sprinting with weighted vests, parachutes, or pulling sleds. Then, they also run downhill to train them to move their legs faster than they can on level ground. This approach holds true with with golf swing where as with a very light club or no head at all, one should be able to swing faster than a weighted club or a normal weighted driver, as there is less weight to move, and less resistance at the end of the shaft.

This training philosophy has been around for a while in baseball and softball. Basically you are training your fast twitch muscles with the light club and strengthening all of your core muscles with the weighted club. As one of the previous posters said do sets of: 10 with the lighter club, 10 with the weighted club and 10 with your regular club. 3 or 4 sets a day for a couple of weeks and you will definately see results.
