comparisons to Rapture V2

I am going to look at the Ping I15 driver. I currently have the Rapture V2 9 degree w/blueboard. I am sure that there are plenty of Ping driver lovers who have hit both. How did you feel they compared? Is there a big difference in the forgiveness of the two? I have never had anything but square drivers and am wondering how much the fade bias changes things? Should I be looking at the G15 instead?

different animals really. rapture v2 is max moi low cog head with a higher launch. i15 is an open face low launch "workable" head. almost opposite design concept. that's not to say you wont like it. i hit all the latest ping drivers and thought they were all nice. for me, the rapture was the straightest, g15 the longest, and i15 the nicest at address.

Before I got my i15 in December, I played the V2 for 12 months. I'm, here are the main differences:

- forgiveness: the V2 wants to go straight because of the back weighting. However, I hit a ton of pulls and blocks. The i15 is easier to turn over and manipulate either way. Across the face the drivers seem similar with equal forgiveness
- workability: the i15 takes this by a large margin. I struggled with pulls and blocks with the V2 and could not consistently turn the V2 over when needed. The i15 has been much easier to work both ways and I like the smallish/deep face 460* profile. The fade bias has not effected my ability to hit a draw when needed. The i15 has most workability of any 460* driver I have ever hit
- launch/spin/ball speed/roll out: i15 launches a tad lower but the V2 spins a tad less in the same lofted head. Both my V2/i15 had identical digital lofts (8.7*). Launch and spin are very close. In terms of ball speed and roll out, the i15 has the edge but not by a great deal. I consistently hit longer drives with the i15
- feel: both the V2/i15 feel very good on center strikes and I would say the feel is equal

Overall, I just couldn't get along with the V2 because of my struggles with pulls/blocks. The V2 is a point and shoot driver that only wants to go straight. However, when you do hit the V2 straight it goes. The i15 has been a much better fit for me. It is easier to hit small draws/fades, more accurate, longer, and better overall performance.

Like golfpros1 said, totally different animals.

The i15 is the "pro" style driver in that it's designed to lower ball flight, lower spin rate, and have a cut miss to it. It is a neutral face but the internal weighting and the way the head is designed, it's designed to be a cut miss.

It does have a much smaller sweet spot (it's about the size of a penny) so unless you're a person that hits a driver on the screws more often than not, it's not really designed for you. If you miss the sweet spot, you lose performance pretty quickly. On the other hand, if you find the sweet spot, it is the longest driver the PING offers.

The Rapture V2 is on the other extreme. High MOI driver with tungsten heel and toe plates to maintain stability on mishits. Not able to work the ball as much as with the i15.
