Question about Nano Technology Shafts.

Would like to know how this shaft compares
I have Wilson Dd5 460cc driver that I purchased in winter.

It came with stock Wilson Nano Technology shaft (stiff).

I was hoping that someone here can let me know how this shaft compares with other shafts. I've heard many say that most stock shaft are cheap and poor quality. I'm guessing that Nano means new technology and hope it's better than most stock.

Am I better changing shaft or keep it.

Sorry this isn't about tour items or high end items. But I appreciate the knowledge that the users here have and appreciate any input.

Nanotechnology is new and exciting. Unfortunately because the average consumer doesn't really understand what it is and how it works, marketing companies across the world are eager to exploit its hype simply by putting nano somewhere in the name whether it actually incorporates the technology or not. That being said the Wilson site does not inspire me with confidence that they havn't done the same:

"Nano-Tech Shaft

In 2005, Wilson Staff introduced nanotechnology to the world of golf and introduced the Nano-Tech graphite shaft. Nano-sized particle were introduced in the graphite tip to increase tip strength and torsional stability. This year, the Nano-Tech shaft features full-length nanotechnology with particles positioned from tip to grip, resulting in improved stability and lighter weight throughout the entire shaft.

The Wilson Staff Pd6 will be available in lofts of 8.5°, 10.0° and 11.5°, while the Wilson Staff Dd6 will offer four loft options of 8.5°, 10.0°, 11.5° and 13°. Pd6 will be available in the Aldila NV shaft R and S flexes. The Dd6 will be available in the new Nano Tech shaft in RL, R and S flexes and additionally as an inline custom shaft in the Aldila NVS in R and S flexes.

The Wilson Staff Df6 fairway woods will be available in 15°, 19°, 22°and 25° lofts, while the Wilson Staff Pf6 will offer a 13°strong #3-wood and a 17° strong #5. The Df6 will be available in the new Nano Tech shaft in RL, R and S flexes and additionally as an inline custom shaft in the Aldila NVS in R and S flexes. The Pf6 is available in the Aldila NV R and S flexes."

Now on a lighter note, the Accuflex evolution shaft does appear to truely incorporate the technology:

"The newest shaft in the AccuFLEX line and the 1st ever shaft to hit the golf market incorporating NANO COMPOSITE TECHNOLOGY. The Evolution is unique in design and material and truly is the best of both worlds. In the case of the EVOLUTION, AccuFLEX Golf’s Nano Composite technology enhancement increases the surface area of the shaft thereby creating a tighter molecular structure. This means that shafts that are enhanced with AccuFLEX Golf’s Nano Composite technology have fewer voids in the fiber, tighter tolerances and can feature lighter weight with more fiber density. Nano Composite technology shafts are also stronger, have faster recovery with less shaft deformation while transmitting better feel.

This technology is unparalleled in a golf shaft and the EVOLUTION is Revolutionizing Golf. Independent feedback from a wide variety of players has produced unbelievable results. There are just as many people that tell AccuFLEX they have increased distance as there are people who have said they vastly increased control. The EVOLUTION is just as unique in color as it is design and features a beautiful translucent array of colors. Available in R, S, X flexes."

I haven't hit that club or that shaft so I don't know how it compares to others.

If you hit the ball good with it and the shaft fits your swing there is no reason to change it. If it does not fit your swing very well or there is something you don't like about the performance then I might consider trying a new shaft.

I would much rather hit a cheap stock shaft that works well than an expensive shaft that does not work good for me.

i have that driver as well and i was wondering what shaft profile it would be most similar to? maybe grafalloy prolite? any other companies which that Nanotech shaft would compare to? Thanks
