Coastal Carolina PGM program?

I've heard a lot of good things about Methodist's PGM program, but at first glance, Coastal Carolina's program looks good as well. I mean it's in Myrtle Beach! Does anyone know anything about this program that I should know about? I'm visiting all the PGM schools in the Carolinas this summer but I'd really like to have some personal opinions about the program before I visit. Thanks!

Being from Methodist I am biased, but I will inform you that I had a friend that transferred from Coastal to Methodist and he said that there was no comparision when you compare the pgm programs themselves, not the universities there are no comparision. Considering this business is all about who you know, my ties through methodist got me into one of the top private clubs in the US

I have a few friends here at Clemson in PGM and they seem to like it a lot. I don't have any personal experiences but Walker is a pretty kickass course if you ask me.

2 words to describe the best program in PGM....MISSISSIPPI STATE....we have it all SEC football, great golf, great teachers, amazing facilities, business school, and lets not forget about the girls! ha

coastal is awful and has had their accreditation threatened in recent years. Its a joke of a program and a waste of your time.

As for PGM in general, be sure that a career in golf is what you want, many many professionals will tell you they wish they would have done something else, so make sure you are able to get some sort of business degree along with PGM.

My Nephew is a junior in High School here in CT. He wants to attend Methodist in NC for their PGM program. He did pass his playing test at the age of 16. So, he does have some game. I think he has 2 years before it expires.

My question is, is there any other schools that compare to Methodist for their PGM program?

Can I get any advice and/or emails from Methodist Alum's or others that I can forward to him to prepare him on his dream?

I dont know why when people think of PGM they think of Methodist. Ferris and Ms State are the top two and most people in the business would agree. The only upside I have ever heard about Methodist is that they can play on the golf team. If he is going PGM for sure have him look at a lot more schools than just the one. He will be very surprised. I visited Clemson, Coastal, FSU, SHSU, MSU, and Methodist and chose MSU for the program as a whole, the facilities, alum, and not gonna lie, the mississippi girls! ha

So how is it as MSU? I've heard from a lot of people that the program is one of the best but how is the school aside from golf? MSU is one of my top choices right now. thanks

aside from golf? its even better! ha were an SEC school so we have great sports, the town is awesome, greek life is awesome (although I am one of few in a fraternity) the girls are drop dead gorgeous, the teachers are awesome and very helpful. A lot of new buildings are up and in the process of going up. Dorms are some of the nicest in the country for freshman. Did I mention the girls? ha overall MSU its an awesome place, the PGM is all one big family and we all get along and go on golf trips. Its legit!

Nice! How about the courses? Are they really time consuming? I've heard that the PGM program takes a lot of extra work.

the work isnt too bad...esp for someone like you because all the work will be online as apposed to our binders upon binders of stuff. Everyone helps eachother so its pretty legit

I also heard that Campbell university has a good pgm program as well.

As a CCU alumnus and someone who was in the PGM program until injuries forced me to quit, the program was in its infancy back then (early 2000's). I went back to the school a year ago April and the PGM program has completely changed. They take it a lot more seriously now and seem to be a lot more organized and have a good idea of how to prep the current PGM students for a job in the profession after they obtain their degree. They have their own golf course that they play/practice/work at. Quail Creek.
